In AA 1.5, how come I can't save an .mp3 at a bit rate higher than 128k?

Good question. I know a guy who might know the answer. His name is Colin......
Oh. Never mind.
I am shocked at this turn of developments.

Yeah, it's like those computer messages that say "contact your administrator" when I am the administrator. Who the hell do I contact?

| Colin - when you "save as" choose mp3 - then click the "options" button below - you'll get all your bit rate choices up to 320 kpbs

Record a new waveform, 44100 16, stereo, and then go to save as an MP3, hit the "options" button.
The topmost pulldown menu will let you make a selection greater than 128k.

| Smarty-Pants Amy is right - if you record lower than 48k 16bit, stereo - the highest mp3 option you get is 128kbps. I'll bet that's the issue.

Ah... I am recording at 44.1, THAT'S my problem. Thanks Amy and Todd. You can tell the guru a thing or two. Of course I haven't tried it yet but I am off to do that now. I will report back with my success shortly. I LOVE THIS FORUM!

OK, guys you are right! BUT... I don't want to record in stereo! I have my technical reasons for that. I'll play with upping the sample rate in mono and see what I can do. And... for the record, I KNEW about the options button, it's just what options I was being presented with that was my problem.
I'll report back.

Seems like there is no mono selection that I can choose that will let me save past 128k. I hate to voice in stereo. It gives a chance that the recipient will hear it or further process it "out of phase." Damn history in radio production!

| If you record at a higher bit rate then "save as" and click "convert to mono" it'll allow you to save at 160kbps mono - does that help?

What about CBR vs. VBR? Is Variable Bit Rate compatible enough for most people? I see that VBR allows higher bit rates.

Yes, I have the same box and I am very familliar with it. It's after the recoding is made, trying to get an .mp3 better than 128 from a mono file that is my goal.
