You rock! |
For Audition 1.5, I really recommend Total Training Adobe Audition 1.5 DVDs with Jason Levine, the guy who created most of the Audition loops. I think he was even part of the Cool Edit software team before Adobe bought them out. Not sure. Since these DVDs are for the older 1.5 version, they can be purchased very cheaply on eBay. Well worth it.
This link at Creative Cow will take you to a few of the lessons included in Total Training's Adobe Audition 1.5 DVDs so you can preview them for free. The list includes Levine's lessons on noise reduction, downward normalization and the ever-popular vocoder.
Colin's sound bytes are truly great, but for Audition, it helps to have video and Levine is an excellent instructor. _________________ NikkiSaco.Com - That Stylish Comfort Voice (SM)

Nikki,
I have been using Audition since the early Cool Edit days and still mange to find new features. The video series is great, by the way. I am one of those guys that can't read a manual. After all this time though, for some reason I shy away from the spectral view. I don't know what kind of mental block I have with it but it always seems to confuse me. Just me, or anyone else shun this view? Supposedly it can be quite helpful so I hate to be missing out because of some strange phobia. |

First, everyone's with Adobe now -- or Google!
Erik, I'm with you. Still haven't found the way to benefit from spectral view. I also suspect I'm missing something but continue to explore the program for everything it can offer. _________________ NikkiSaco.Com - That Stylish Comfort Voice (SM)

Spectral view is way COOL. The example I saw of it's use was to remove a cough from a live recording. It allows you to remove a sliver of a frequency range from a sliver of time. _________________ www.ColinCampbellVoice.com

Colin-
Do you write a script for these tips or do you just speak extemporaneously? _________________ 865-686-8925

Colin-
You are amazing man! Jadah runs around here shouting your praises, and I sit here scratching my head trying imagine how the heck you do it.
I have learned so much from these and on top of everything else you are just a nice darn guy.
Thank you from all of us.

Well as far as the VO Tips (I really need to get back to them and make a season three) I guess ad-libbing comes from my old radio days. I do have "pick ups" and "out takes" but no script whatsoever. Sometimes I feel like I have so much to say and not enough time in the day to say it. I call it "busy brain" and it can be a curse. _________________ www.ColinCampbellVoice.com

Hey Colin, those are some pretty sweet tips. You should set up a WordPress or something and make those MP3s your making into a podcast or something. Very interesting stuff. I like how you tend to make things make sense for the everyday person.
While I was listening to some of your explanations, like the cause of digital clipping, I kept thinking down on the 1 and 0 level, the difference between 16 and 24bit in terms of numbers, etc. I would have probably bored you guys with really geeky tech talk on it...
I work with accoustics all the time with seismic and ultrasound systems, and it is really neat finding the parallels between that and audio production. Anyways, good job, and I do think it would be really neat to see those tips podcasted for subscribing in iTunes or something. |
