Remind me to slap you in Vegas. Unless you're into that, in which case remind me not to slap you. Wink

OK, OK, things are getting out of hand...

You're a bunch of sickos. You should be strung up and whipped.

But not with an ordinary whip...a clean, freshly-oiled whip laid across the shoulders in clean, even strokes until a little blood wells up in the gashes.

That'll teach you.

Actually, no.

Just the blessing and a curse of being able to remember obscure things I have read or seen. This particular one comes from a MAD magazine I had way back when.

Ok. Now she's mad.

As you may remember, when last we saw our heroine, she had learned of her V123 talent seeker ratings.

None of the ratings were from any of the jobs she had actually booked through V123.

None of the ratings were for auditions for which she was called back, short-listed, or asked to come in and read in person.

However, somebody who posted this low-budget audition (all names removed by moi, otherwise it appears in its entirety):
Quote:
Welcome to ***** the____________ company. You may choose from the following list of options or visit us online at *****.com
For ***** press
For ***** or General Inquiries press
For ***** press
For ***** press
For ***** or ***** press

And who received a nice, personalized note and my IVR demo in reply... gave me a one!

That's right. Some guy who wanted his answering machine message recorded for free, who never (of course) corresponded with me or hired me, was able to significantly lower my top-secret talent rating on V123.

That combined with another "one" rating I received from someone casting a local bank commercial, and the fact that nobody who has ever hired me has bothered to give me a rating at all, results in me having a pretty unattractive score.

I wonder:
How will my current dismal rating affect me as we transition to 2.0?

Short of violence, how can talent seekers who are happy with a talent be encouraged to rate them?

Will power-hungry schmoes who don't want to record their own answering machine messages continue to wield this kind of power over my life?

Is there/will there be some kind of appellate system where a talent can protest an obviously ridiculous rating?

Mad

Amy, Amy...chill, girl.
You're working a gig a day. How has the rating adversely affected you in any way?
It must be illusionary, since we all plugged along rather nicely before we knew it existed.
I'd forget it were I you.
Wouldn't it be kind'a like finding out the guys have been scratching comments about you on the men's room walls?
Doesn't really count for anything. Doesn't affect the big picture. Means nothing.
(Except our discovery that Todd can't spell aureolas and can't find a suggestive rhyme for Amy)
Chill Out On!

And Now....To make you feel even better about this ratings thing...we proudly present ----Ratings Reality---

Your "Ratings" are going to factor into your future job-landing ability on V123.

"Ratings" will be used to select which talents will be "Invited" to audition.

So, my guess is, if you have crappy ratings (for whatever reason) the new V123 system MAY decide NOT to send you an audition invitation from a given client.

I've done 101 auditions to date, haven't landed a single job and my ratings are. 100-(1) 50-(1) 1-(3)

Yipes!!!! My ratings STINK, No Jobs, and NOW my Toast is Burning! What a day!!!!!
