You guys might notice that for the first 5 pages I haven't bothered to post on this topic. To be honest: I don't care about it. Why? Because it's out of my control. I'm going to expend my energy elsewhere on things I CAN control, such as responding to leads, marketing my voice, etc.
This situation is the pits and it'd better change with the NEW v123 or there will likely be a huge exodus. Believe me, there are other voice sites out there.
I haven't bothered to even try to find out my ratings, and apparently now, for my $195, I can't even do THAT.
So I'm taking a wait-and-see attitude. My subscription is up for renewal in June. We'll see what happens. In the meantime, I'm going back to the things I CAN control. _________________ Scott R. Pollak

Scott....although I agree with your philosophy of concentrating on things you can change and not on the things you can't change....I think you're wrong on this one. No one has mentioned anything before about this topic because no one knew about it until the other day. Someone created this system that we now know as V123 version 1. Someone programmed this speciic functionality into it. A new version is about to go into beta. Now that we know about this aspect of the system we rely on, we CAN affect a change by stating our concerns and pointing out the shortfalls that maybe got overlooked in the design. By people stating their concerns and offering suggestions on how the system could remain but work more efficiently, a change can be had and maybe be better than the original plan. I'm not saying it WILL be changed...I'm saying it COULD be changed and we would be a part of it. So I wouldn't look at this as something we cannot change. Just my opinion on it. I don't think anyone has been unreasonable in their vocalizing (texting ) their dis-satisfaction with the revelation of how the ratings work. They are voicing a concern on how it could negatively affect their career or at the very least, their reputation and chances on this particular site. There.....I'm done....lol _________________ Cheers,

Just in case anyone feels like a few people cannot make a difference....here is a quote that has provided inspiration at times for me.
Margaret Mead ----
"Never doubt that a small, group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."
Not that we're talking about changing the world...hahahaha, but if it holds true for things of this magnitude....then surely for something like a rating system it can hold true. _________________ Cheers,

Okay, I had to bite and see what my ratings were.
Here's a fun little one. I answered an audition listing in here and got this back as a private
hi, loved your read for ************. We're pitching this to a client...and would love if you could read a second script:
For starters, we all gave him a free read to pitch his client with, which may or may not materialize into a job and on top of it he gave me a 50% IF nothing but a bloody courtesy he should have given everyone a 100%
Please. let me rate him because he gets a 1. |

This is an example of one that rated "unprofessional." Maybe not the best read in the world but UNPROFESSIONAL? _________________ www.ColinCampbellVoice.com

OK, I have to agree it´s enough of this discussion. As you all know the new version of Voice123 is almost here, please be patient.
As I mentioned before this system will be reviewed and improved after the New Voice123 is launched, and for a fact all the feedback we are getting from all of you will be taken on to consideration.
Please remember the SmartCast launched in the version 2.0 will work separately from this system.
Once again, PLEASE BE PATIENT, very soon more information will be released with the new feature specifics. |

LOL... now THAT's funny!!!!
Freddie, what's wrong if people want to discuss? If others aren't interested in the topic, then they don't need to read it or post. I don't get it.
Ok, no more posts on this topic. The end. _________________ Caryn Clark... THE Hip Chick Voice!

That´s not what I meant, the main idea is not to keep going around in circles. Soon the system will be improved, Voice123 is quite aware of the need for this specific part of the website to be upgraded.
We are just asking you to be patient, that´s all.
Voice123 is always working to bring you guys a better service, all your feedback regarding the matter is valuable.
Please do not take me wrong. |

Freddie-
Why not just turn off the current ratings system. I haven't read a single post where someone was defending it. _________________ 865-686-8925

OK, I´ve been thinking about this all weekend long, the idea now it´s to look in to the system and find what can be improved.
I´m going to gather all your comments and bring them up to Voice123´s development department, this way the process can be initiated.
Please take in to account that the actual system can not be removed, due to the involvement in the it has with other areas of the site.
As you all know by now, Voice123 is always open to change and feedback, it is understandable the system needs improvements as of now and we´ll get to those as soon as possible. Voice123´s commitment is to you and delivering a much better service everyday.
Again, thank you all for your understanding, patience and feedback. |

Freddie:
I have a couple of thoughts on some proposed solutions......
I know that the new version "will be better" according to V123, but ratings are subjective and could be damaging so some consideration should be made to being reportable and actionable by the talent.
1. At minimum, a voice seeker leaving any score should have an "are you sure?" screen that rewords the score. This would be for the seekers who thought that rating a talent as #1 meant the BEST. The screen would say, please verify that you are rating the talent as a 1 - UNPROESSIONAL. There should also be some language that lets the seeker know what this does to the talent and their rankings. Some seekers may rub their hands together grinning saying "Mwa Ha Ha!", and others may say..."well, maybe they weren't THAT bad"
2. A rating of 1 - should really only be given if the seeker is willing to choose from a list or add comments relative to a reason. I personally equate the word "Unprofessional" with "Unacceptable". Some talents submit home made demos because they perform all their finish work in a professional off site studio. If this practice is hurting the talent, they should know by receiving this in their feedback. It would look something like this... Unprofessional due to: (check all that apply)
A. Poor Sound Quality
B. Poor/No acting skills
C. Inappropriate/Vulgar content
D. Sent incorrect type of demo
E. Other ____________________________________
3. Some seekers ask for a generic and in the content of their description, request a custom demo, they may be rating talents for that and these feedback scores should be able to be disputed by the talent. Keeps everyone honest.
4. Seekers have the privilege of anonymity and the talent are stuck with no recourse. Can you assign code numbers that are visible to the seekers so we can track the history of a seeker when they rank us; that way, we can choose not to answer clients that have a history of ranking us negatively.
5. We definitely should be able to rank our seekers at the same level they are able to rank us.
I find it unacceptable that we are rated without our knowledge, without disclosure, and recourse. Fix it to include these components, or remove them and randomly shuffle talents in ranking.
I'm sure the idea was created with good intentions, but it has created bad feelings... _________________ SaVoa No. 07006 |
