Dunno if this will have the appeal of the now-infamous "Demo 'o' De Day" thread, but perhaps we can get one going listing the "thanks but...." notes. I get quite a few of them. Here's the first one from today that I didn't get:
Are you frustrated with never knowing where to put your hot, dripping cooking covers?
Sick and tired of making a mess, meal after meal, day after day, on your counter, stovetop or in your sink?
Introducing the revolutionary Cooking Caddy – the best kitchen invention in the last 25 years! And guess what folks it’s made in the good ‘ole USA. (and made in the USA) _________________ Scott R. Pollak

Scott,
Thanks for bringing this up. In my short time here I have not received one. This though brought up something in me that I would like to see V123 provide. Recently I have noticed some of these leads I have been doing custom demos for, showing up in the Expired Tab. That just seems wrong to me. Under the Answered Tab, I would like to see the status of the lead. Their is a lot more information that I would like to see about this lead but the most important would be "This Job has been awarded to someone else, so you can forget about getting it, you loser. Keep trying though!"
So minus not getting the "Thanks, but not thanks" letter, it would be nice to know if it has been awarded. Instead of just seeing it show up in the expired.

me either George although apparently I had several clients rate my demos as 100. Excellent demo but you weren't considered for the job. HA! _________________ Cheers,

They were chatting about this elsewhere, lads. There must be some on/off switch for those, 'cuz while Scott P is drowning in polite Thumbs-Downs, you and I and Amy have never received the slightest acknowledgement. And - yes - it is rather pathetic that we're now whining for refusals.
'Tis most bizarre. |

... and the ones we don't WANT:
We are looking for an experienced voice over talent to read and record 2 short stories approximately 15 minutes in length each. Must have own recording gear. The recording will be used for flash Flash presentations on the web.
Budget: $300.

I actually answered it with my generic demo and my normal pricing. They'll either get some hack to do it for their budget, or realize they're going to have to pay for quality. _________________ Scott R. Pollak

121 responses so far - hopefully they all followed Scott's lead --- probably not, though.
I'll do the job, but I can't afford to pay the whole $300 all at once. _________________ From the rocking of the cradle to the rolling of the hearse ... the going up was worth the coming down. - Kris Kristofferson

I sent my generic demo and said I'd do it for 300 per story. _________________ Cheers,

I wish someone would post something ridiculous like "need one hour of a technical recording. No fee whatsoever but you just might win future work." I'd love to see how many people answer it. I bet some would! _________________ www.ColinCampbellVoice.com
