That was hysterical. Good thing I didn't have to worry about putting in an audition, since I don't have the requisite 10 years of experience in hard sell.

Posted: Thu Mar 15, 2007, 21:04 (GMT) Post subject: Bizarre Lead |
|
|
I post this under Bizarro, because this is the most bizarre lead I have seen yet. This is from today - as follows....
PROJECT NAME: Add intros to 20 Interview recordings PROJECT SUMMARY: Add voiceover introduction, plus music intro & outro to each of 20 interview recordings. Then, convert to Redbook. REQUIREMENTS: o You can do voiceover o You can add 6-second header/tail music to audio o You are experienced with editing audio for Redbook format PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This project involves 20 interviews, which will be distributed on audio CD, and on MP3 players. (yes, I will be distributing actual MP3 players containing these interviews) The interviews have already been recorded and are in MP3 format. John Reese ............ 1:59:01 **See Note 1 Terry Gibbs ........... 1:25:32 **See Note 2 Phyllis Schwartz ...... 1:07:19 Yanik Silver .......... 1:04:54 Marc Goldman .......... 1:02:35 Charles Burke ......... 1:01:43 John Glube ............ 1:21:16 **See Note 2 Lynn T./Mike M. ....... 1:18:42 **See Note 2 Mike Filsaime ......... 0:58:08 Russell Brunson ....... 0:56:38 Andy Henry ............ 0:56:28 Tam Morris ............ 1:14:16 **See Note 2 Gary Knuckles ......... 1:11:03 Rosalind Gardner ...... 1:09:56 Marty Foley ........... 0:52:22 Willie Crawford ....... 1:04:06 Jason Cain ............ 1:03:19 Ted Nicholas .......... 1:00:25 Joe Vitale ............ 0:59:34 Joel Comm ............. 0:39:22 (above times are h:mm:ss) Note 1: Break into 2 separate one-hour audio files Note 2: Make-Fit into 70 minutes You will creating a short introduction at the very beginning of each interview, plus adding a 6-second music intro and outtro to each interview, plus preparing/converting the audios to Redbook. Delivery will include (a) 20 master CDs in Redbook format and (b) audios formatted for distribution on MP3 player, BUDGET: My budget for this project is USD $200. 1/2 payable midway thru the project, and the final half payable on my final approval and delivery. Payment details: After you complete parts 1 and 2 (described below) and email me the audios for my inspection and approval, I will immediately Paypal you the first half of your fee. You will then complete parts 3,4,5 and upon delivery and my inspection of the master CDs and MP3 audios, and my confirmation that everything is correct, then I will immediately Paypal you the second half of your fee. PROJECT NOTES: PART 1: Add voice intro, Intro music & Outtro music Add 6-second intro music and outtro music to each interview. Then add a voiceover on top of the intro music. Example: "Marketing Masters Disc 1, featuring John Reese" "Marketing Masters Disc 2, featuring Terry Gibbs" Music & Voice style selection: Provide me a few samples of this voiceover: "Marketing Masters Disc 2, featuring Terry Gibbs" with a few different voice styles and music styles. From your samples, I will quickly decide which music and which voice style to use for this project. PART 2: Adjust time on 5 interviews Of the 20 interviews, 4 are slightly longer than 70 minutes. (audio CDs can hold up to 70 min) So you will need to "squeeze" each one of these 4 interviews into 70 minutes. (I am aware that voice editing equipment/software can automatically squeeze a recording to a set time length) One more thing. The first interview (with John Reese) is 2 hours long, so it will need to be split into 2 one-hour recordings. PART 3: Divide each interview into 4 tracks Break each interview into 4 or 5 parts. These will become the tracks on the audio CD. And they will be separate audio files on the MP3 player. When deciding where to divide the interview, you will need to listen to the audio and make the division sometime when nobody is speaking. As for the exact number of tacks (4, 5, or some other number of tracks), I will discuss this with you and together we will decide the optimal number of tracks. PART 4: For Audio CD: Convert all 20 interviews to Redbook format. It is my understanding that Redbook is the most compatible audio CD format, and most commercially available audio CDs (including music CDs) are Redbook. However if you can explain to me why I don't need to go Redbook, I am open-minded and will listen to your explanation. PART 5: For MP3 player: Convert all files to 64 kHz Convert the audios to 64 kHz (or other optimal size) so that they do not take up so much space on the MP3 player. TO BID ON THIS PROJECT: If possible, when bidding, provide me a few samples of the following: "Marketing Masters Disc 2, featuring Terry Gibbs" with a few different voice styles and music styles. From these samples, I will decide which voiceover artist will be awarded the project, and which voice style and music will be used. FUTURE WORK: Lots of it! I utilize brief website audios on websites to help sell my products, also I utilize website audio to help my customers use various sections of my paid membership sites. Also, I have written some ebooks and am considering converting them to audio ebooks. And if you can do an on-camera read, I have cool project coming up this fall.
Price specified by the client: 200
Get all that?
Cheers, gang

Great stuff, Ron and Todd.
(but it only counts if you submit it....)
I may not stay with V123, but I'll pay to stay with voiceover Savvy.
And that is amazing, Gordon. I felt like charging $200 just for reading that.

Redbook encodes all kinds of s**t - I mean useful information onto the CD - the CD's physical specifications like tracks, sector and block layout, coding, and sampling. for $200 it is a GOTHIC P.I.A.
