I just got off the phone with Phyllis and my first coaching session...WOW! She is amazing. We listened to three of my recent auditions together and went over them almost line by line. She pointed out the things I could do to make them better...if fact that is my homework for this afternoon.
I am so excited about what I learned in just over an hour...best 50 bucks ever spent!
She truly does have a gift for being able to put visuals to sound. I am very visual in my thinking so when she described what I was doing using this type of language...something 'clicked'.
If you have been considering coaching or just haven't had a good ear hear you for a while, I highly recommend giving Phyllis a call. She is so kind, it was like talking to my best friend. Go for it!!!!

I just hung up with Phyllis. This was my first 15 minutes with her and all I can say is WOW!! She pointed out some thing's I never DREAMED, were coming through in my voice!
And, you know what? She was right on TARGET!! I was flabbergasted at how accurate she was in her description. She truly did switch on a light bulb for me. I can't wait for my next session with Phyllis!!
Do yourself and your career a favor, send Phyllis an email and set up some time with her. You will be very glad that you did!!!!

I also just finished my first phone call with Phyllis. I came away from the conversation feeling that I can shake the years of radio announcing style.
Phyllis pointed out a lot of great things that we are going to work on over the coming weeks. She has the amazing ability to pull out the real person in a voice.
If you have been hesitant about talking to Phyllis, do yourself a huge favor and contact her.
It is the greatest step I have taken in my voice over career and I have been at this for over 23 years.

Alright...Wow. My first session is complete and I have "homework". Phyllis has opened my eyes .....and ears. It is amazing that she can "see" a voice. I hung-up the phone feeling like a huge concrete block was lifted off my chest. I was under the impression I was supposed to sound like a radio announcer. I am approaching my homework a totally different person.
I could rave on and on about how I felt after the first session, but I will spare you the details. You just need to contact Phyllis and let her talk with you. She is amazing.

I agree with the other talents here at Savvy.
Not only is my work ultra-professional, but I have yet to meet a client who wasn't kind, courteous, and absolutely right in knowing what they wanted
(note: the above is a web site- to- Savvy link template)
Scott, I have yet to hear from any Phyllis detractors. She may be unorthodox in her gifted approach, but she sure brings it. I've been thrilled and amazed in multiple exchanges with her.
Vaunt On!

Robert,
Phyllis had a lot of nice things to say about you as well. The one thing I appreciate the most about life is the ability to continue learning.

Robert, I now have a calling plan to Canada. But I have forgotten what it is! In any case, thanks for the kind words and I am considering them a hint that we're overdue for a chat.

Colin, there are other things we've worked on that show the difference even more clearly - for examply, your demo in general. You have greater range of delivery and use of your voice now. And...you don't lose your voice halfway through the day anymore. The no smoking has probably done more than I have.
For the "voice acting" specialists, Colin and I don't work on that aspect, just on the aspect of proper and healthy use of his sound. So when you listen, just listen to the sound and not the delivery.

All true. We've mostly been working on tone, not interpretation. I may launch the new demo in the next few days. Still tweaking, but it's a major shift for me.

Well I did it.
After reading all that everyone had to say about Phyllis in this thread, I called.
Just wrapped up a wonderful eye and ear opening session. It was amazing how she picked up on things that I was doing with my voice that, in nearly 38 years in this business, I have never heard. Of course all of the 'not so right things.' and has pointed me in the right direction to discover my "true" sound.
Looking forward to attacking my homework, and taking the next step.
Simply amazing. It's like I have this wonderful insturment, but never learned to play it properly to produce it's purest sound.

Wow, Marilyn -- that's incredible. What warmth in that second read. Now that's got to be the real YOU!
