...like baring one's soul (not to mention one's demo) to the VO community. Very Happy

So I'm jumping into the fire with everyone else. I would greatly appreciate your input.

Thanks!

Fred

My initial impression overall is that your voice, delivery and demo are terrific! Great pacing on the demo with a nice blend of various styles and tempos. You have a real knack for sounding 'real' even on the typical harder-sell spots like the dvd spot. There was ONE in the middle for some hospital, though, that sounded really muddy. It stood out as a bad dub compared to everything else. I'd ditch that one.
I honestly can't offer any other criticisms other than perhaps I'd like to hear more of your conversational samples and less of the 'announcer' bits. You have a real gift for that, I think.
Great job! Wish mine sounded that good!

Hey Scott,

Thanks for the kind words. I appreciate your input.

I agree with you on the hospital spot. There was always something about it that I couldn't put my finger on -- but I've heard it so many times I guess I really wasn't really "hearing" it anymore. I do like the spot, though, so I'll check my archives; maybe I can re-mix it.

Thanks again,
Fred

Fred,

Good demo. My only suggestion would be to mix it up a bit. Delivery on a lot of the spots seems to be in the same energy. Loved the last spot you did. Very natural.

Over all a nice demo and a nice sound - but because of the length (over 2 mintues), I think it does end up sounding like it is the all at the same pace. So, it is too long - each of the clips could be cut pretty much in half. Editing will help a lot.

And for the first time in reading all these posts, I'm going to have to disagree with Paxton, I thought the last spot sounded a little less "real" than some of the others.

But that just shows you what a subjective business this is!
