Those are some AWSOME headphones. You won't be disappointed. A lot of studio people use them. Most people have them for YEARS. A good investment. My pair is the predecessor (MDR-V6) which are exactly the same and I've had mine for about 15 years. Just recently replaced the foam ear pads, you can buy replacements.

Thanks Colin. I just started researching headphones because I desperately need an upgrade to my M70s and your judgment is usually spot on. Now I just have to figure out what powered monitors I am going to get. Maybe I'll start a new topic........

Here's my set up.

MXL 909 Mic
Symetrix 528
Mackie ONYX 1620 Mixer
Pro Tools LE with Mbox
Windows XP media edition. (no problems with pro-tools for me)
Sony MDR 7506 headphones

I bought almost all of my gear on eBay including the Tascam CD and Sony Mini-disc recorders, distribution amp, Tascam cassette recorder and the BEST mic arm known to man for $30.

I call it eBay one, lovingly.

Although I am delighted with my sE 2200A mic, I just did a project at another studio and we chose a Neumann 103.

Holy snappin' arseholes!

Who do I have to insult, wound or kill to get me one of them little suckers?

It Loves Me! (An' I love it right back!) Smile

I have used the TLM 103 many times and have always found it to be amazing. Sooner or later I am definitely getting one of my own. There are a few folks here who would say that it is overpriced and/or overkill but to my ear it is one of the best.

You will need a dead quiet room with it though because it is super sensitive.

Dang, Ed. Thats a pretty impressive collection.

I used the UA-25 for quite a while and I am quite happy to be rid of it as it introduced a lot of hiss if it was turned up past 5. A lot of folks love it so maybe I had just had a bad unit.

There is a person I respect very much in audio engineering who just doesn't like Ederol at all. Just FYI.

Jon... radio background? Thinking of adding an SM7 to my arsenal. How do you like it.

It's come to my attention that a man does not live by a condenser alone.
