Re: Watermarking... Obvious watermark vs. the "subtle" change of phone/whatever text to make is unusable.

Robert, I've asked this in another thread and not had it directly addressed; What's the difference? Both say, "I'm protecting my work". If you say "Obvious" means, "I don't trust you"-- then what does the "subtle" change mean? "I kinda trust you, but still not enough to do the read verbatim? I honestly don't see the difference. Please explain.

Re: Submitted, but not downloadable...
Maggie, I agree with Skip. But I would like to know what scheme you are using to allow someone access to your clip (I assume on-line??), but not so they can download it? Can you please tell us without the secret handshake?

Question for Skip. You said,
Quote:
If something comes over a computer it can be captured no matter what you do. That goes for Audio or Video. It can be in the same quality as you recorded it as well, so don't be fooled.
Just a point of clarity for Maggie...be in the same quality as you uploaded it.

There's a check box when you send an audition... "allow download."

While it is possible to capture the audio from the player when download is not available, it requires some skill.

So, as a "non-premium" member as of this writing, I can't see that feature (esp. from the "Seeker" side). However a simple program like Easy MP3 Recorder would allow that with little skill, yes?

Not sure about that program but I've used one called Total Recorder in the past to do it.

I just don't think the average talent seeker would go to all that trouble to figure out how to capture it.

I would think virtually any recording software should be able to record whatever audio is running through the sound card. As far as the sophistication of the talent seekers, my theory is that if they are unscrupulous enough to rip you off, they are motivated enough to find the way to do it.

Usually, I don't watermark my demos. However, I rarely read the entire script...or if I do, I change something, like the company name or a key phrase. If that bothers them, they can reject me...they'll have plenty of company. Next!

I don't watermark my auditions.
I never add music to auditions (I believe this is a mark of newbiness).
I always allow download.
I delete any leads about which I have a hinky feeling.
I try to approach life with a trusting abundance mentality.
