I live in Canada and have been contacted by a company in England requesting an audition for a job. If I’m chosen, the recording will be done in England. I’ve done voice-overs for international clients before but always FTP’d from my home studio. Does anyone know the rules about doing a one shot deal in another country? I am in the process of applying for a dual citizenship (British and Canadian) but I don’t think I will have it in time for the recording. Is my regular passport good enough?
Thanks |

Oh, oh...I know this one. Ask me. Ask me.
You cannot, Jane, physically go there to work without a work permit, which takes about 7 months and four and a half truckloads of paperwork to secure.
The employer should know this.
Go to England on vacation.
Do not bring letters, appointment books, etc that would indicate to a curious Immigration officer that you are going to work.
See the sights. Be discreet. Voice. Enjoy.
