Hi all!
I could really use some help understanding internet voice-over work. If I place a bid and a company accepts my bid, how do I do the work? Do I send it to them in an MP3 format or do I record at a studio? A studio will charge $90.00, so how can someone charge $100.00 for a 15 second recording? One company wants a format of Windows PCM - no clue what that is. They want a compression of uLaW - again, no clue. Then a sampling rate of 11Khz and a resolution of 8 bits - wha are they talking about? I really appreciate any and all feedback. Thank you in advance.

Hi Brenda,

Whoa... slow down a bit...

First, a bit of nettiquette. Please take a moment to post an introduction with your experience and goals in the "Hello" forum. After all, you wouldn't walk into a party uninvited and start asking questions, would you?

Ok, on to some possible answers.

Much of what you're asking depends on the project requirements, your equipment and experience. For example, asking "mp3 or studio?" is like asking "do you walk to work or carry your lunch?" Recording in a studio doesn't preclude mp3 output format.

So, back to square 1. Introduction in the "Hello" forum. Then take a look around. Many of the questions have already been answered on these forums. Also, a class on VO, or even some books covering the basics of audio recording may help.

Hi. My name's Joe... and you are?

Cheers,
