|
|
Here are some auditions I recently submitted.
The first one called for a young, smart, voice. Although, I'm afraid my voice may be a little too "Young" for them. What do you guys think?
I quickly learned, after recording the EcoWash spot from home, that I'm better off putting a quilt over my head to eliminate the echo from the room. The lead called for a young adult. No word back from them yet. Wonder what the winning audition sounded like.
Thanks in advance for the input and criticism!

'Ember!!! Whoo-Hoooooooooooo!
I am so totally NOT surprised you landed the Subaru gig! When I heard your audition I just FELT it! I mean it! Man, they picked the right one for the job!
Mega-KUDOS!!!
Ramona,
You're right... your voice is too young for that type of lead, but you would do well with anything looking for a natural and friendly kid's voice. You have a nice smile in your voice and it's really pleasant to listen to you. Technically, however, your recording sounds bad. I don't know what kind of equipment you're using, but it sounds to me as if you're recording on a dime-store microphone in a very live room and the end result just doesn't sound professional.

I've been lucky enough to have access to a full recording studio that my best friend's parents own at their advertising agency. They let me on the mic whenever no one is on it but there are often schedule conflict since I work full time and I'm in school now.
Guess it's time to invest in a good mic for those times when I can't make it into the studio to submit an audition!!
Do you think I should just submit auditions for those child and teen auditions and leave the young adult and up leads alone?
Oh the joys of being 27 and sounding like a twelve year old!!
I'm so glad I have the opportunity to mingle with the pros here. I can't tell you how much i appreciate you all!!!

Well, Colin, I AM dated! Heck, I'm older than YOU, buddy, so we all KNOW I'm ancient!
Thom... as good as your Jordan River was... and it WAS good, don't get me wrong, it wasn't your best IMHO. It almost felt a bit TOO over-dramatic. I kept wanting a bit more energy in it. Loved the music, though. And maybe this is nothing more than wishful thinking on my part thinking "hey, pick me! Pick me! Not that Thom guy! His is too slow!" LOL...........

I feel ya girl! If I don't speak from the chest, I sound SO young. Let me tell you, pitch correction is your friend. Learn how to use it and use it often. It can usually buy you about 10 years. Just don't go crazy with it or it won't sound natural.
