Hey Scott, over here!

*Just so everyone knows, the winning suggestion for the new name around here was "Leads and Reads." It should be changed by tonight. I'll see you all on the LAR!

Congratulations, Colin... didn't you submit the winning entry?

Now how about changing the title of VO Idol to something that makes more sense like "Demo Critiques"?

I'll set up another poll.

Thanks Kim.

Erik, is there any way to prevent folks from starting random threads underneath?

I have been trying to clean it up. I could find out about possibly disabling the New Topic button for this forum.

Hi Erik ~

Rather than implementing a disabling feature, my suggestion is to start out by trying to get people to adhere to the rules first. And when the names of the forums are clearer and more descriptive of the preferred content, I think that will help.

Any negative response I had recently about having a moderator were related to perhaps sweeping changes being implemented rapidly, and a lot of "disabling," "deleting," and "locking," etc., taking place.

I fully understand that those steps might ultimately be necessary, but just as I strongly disagreed with TalkBack being rather unceremoniously locked without a compromise being attempted, (i.e., that the folks at Voice123 would not be responding but we could continue posting for example), I also strongly disagree with disabling the opportunity to start new threads... Perhaps first try to bring people voluntarily in line, before disabling features?

- Max

I am uncomfortable with the notion of locking anything myself. Just tossing out ideas. I put up a Forum Guidelines section but if that doesn't work I will just have to move stuff around.

While you're at it, perhaps we could also come up with a more descriptive subheading than "Post your own or listen to other talent´s submissions." It's not bad, especially in light of the new name for the section. But how about something like "Post and compare auditions to Voice123 leads."

I also endorse the idea of renaming "voiceover Idol." In fact I made that suggestion in another thread either here or on Julie's forum (I forget which). I think "Critique My Demo" might be a good choice, since that is what most of the people who incorrectly post on DOD seem to be looking for.

They are changing it tonight and I think the subheading is something like, "post and discuss your daily auditions."

I will set up a thread in Chit Chat tomorrow asking for everyone's ideas on a new name for Idol and take another poll. I think some folks want it to stay the same so that will probably be an option on the poll as well. Democracy in action and all that.

Erik,

Is it possible to have a thread for 'somewhere along the way?'

It would be a thread for people to post between newbie-ness and a demo. Since the advice of many here seems to be:
A) Practice lots before a demo.
B) Don't post a demo until it's great.

It would be great to have a place to post 'samples' for critique, without bogging down the DoD and voice over Idol threads.

Just a thought...

Wow, there was actually one I felt like auditioning for. They wanted a fast paced read.
