Its not just you Jon, I haven't been getting much either. Anyone know if Voices is slow as well?
Plus there aren't as many people hanging out here as of late.

OK, just for the sake of comparison, let's pretend that all these different forums, are guys. You know, cute guys that you're dating.
....trying to keep track of all the different forums and actively participating in them feels rather like dating a bunch of men at the same time.... sure there's lots of action and it’s exciting and feeds your ego, but when spreading yourself around so much--how can you give ANY of them 100%? And how can you possibly keep track of what you've said to one guy about something on several different occasions, when you're also talking to all kinds of OTHER guys about the same things? Wouldn't you start to repeat yourself or be redundant or god-forbid, contradict yourself because your mood had changed or you forgot what you said last time?
And if you're spending all that time trying to give out a rather watered-down version of your 100% attention to all these guys, (if only because of time constraints), how can you be devoting any time to your career? Marketing? Contact management? Skill development? Cold calling? Handling your finances with savvy and keeping track of your asset allocation from all that cash you're making?
And how many guys, is too many guys? When should I say "when?" (Keeping the analogy of forums = guys FIRMLY in mind.)
.... will there be another spin off forum after Julies? And should I join that one TOO?
I recently subscribed to Julie's and also to VO-BB because I'm vastly interested in what everyone is saying over there, but how can I possibly keep track of everything that's going on, on all these forums, when I have a totally full schedule already with work?
I'm so new to all the forum stuff, I really don't know what the norm is.... should I join all the forums and try to participate? Should I be "faithful" to one?
And how do you guys handle this? Do you devote X amount of time a day to contribute, or do you post "piecemeal," throughout the day if you happen to walk by your computer....?
Teach me..... I'm no newbie to voice-overs but I'm a sure as heck a newbie to forum posting etiquette.
Oh crap! Sorry Erik, I just realized I am completely off topic! My apologies!

Max,
Personally I think it sucks that so many people have gone over there. I have nothing against Julie or her forum, I think it is very well put together, but now I feel like there are 2 smaller parties going on instead of one big one where everybody is hanging out.
I usually stop by BB once a week or so and I come here a few times a day (more lately). They (BB) have always been kind of a separate deal even though there are many Savvy members there. Now I gotta go over to Julies as well or I am afraid I am going to miss something good. Like you said, who has the time?
p.s. Are you trying to tell me you have been seeing other guys? I thought we had something special.

Wellllll.... even though I'm somewhat interested in what's going on "over there," my heart is here. So, the other guys may be cute, but this is where the....um....meat....of my input will be.
I just don't have enough hours in the day to be spreading myself around to lots, (or even a few) different forums. I know what you mean about the two smaller parties, but I suppose sometimes it's good to get some fresh dynamics going. I'd like to participate in them a bit, but I won't be able to contribute the long-form stuff that I do here. (Not that anyone even likes my long-form stuff, come to think of it!) At least that's how I'm feeling tonight!
However, Voice 123 has been so good to me in the past and some of the absolute biggest clients of my entire career found me here, (yes, much bigger clients than even my agent has produced), so I'm in this for the long haul. I trust that their hearts are in the right place, even if I don't agree with all the changes and policies in place at the moment. I think there's very little in life, (and business) that's set in stone so I'm willing to stick around and trust that things will get better.
And yes, we do have something special Erik. And I'm so pleased that you've subscribed to my newsletter. I'm hoping that you like it....

Julie's forum is a "beacon in the night" should our beloved Savvy go away. That's how I look at it. It does feel better being part of a forum that is run by a VO artist rather than a company who is not made up of voice talent.
Personally, I'd pick one or two forums and stick to them, maybe switch when you are not happy.
Now... in the true sense of LEADS AND READS.... here's one that came in today from TOS that I answered....

The original forum has been going strong since long before Savvy. The VO-BB.com. It is where those of us on the voiceover Cyberstation ended up after it went belly up. So there are not just two places, there are at least three - add the Yahoo voiceover group to that and there is simply not enough time in the day to read everything and still have time to work, eat, sleep, work out, whatever...
Pay bills and invoice - those are important too...

Sorry Erik, did not mean for the thread to get jacked, just made a response to your comment that you noticed fewer people hangin out.
Max, do you only go to one night club or one bar on Friday Night? I didn't think so. Neither do I. Think each of these forums has a unique perspective. VO-BB is very different than Savvy and voice-over and Yahoo and other forums you may surf. One of the things that brought this place down is the constant complaining about V123 and SmartCast which took on a life of its own fueled by a lot of anger (hey kettle calling the pot black here-I did my share but then decided it was very negative and counter productive)...a few of us over at Julie's have suggested that we move on and don't bring that discussion in to play, but rather focus on the cool stuff in VO.
Each forum allows for learning, contributing and networking. I can only make time when I have it, eventually you begin to notice where you enjoy spending your time and that's what you end up doing.

Nice read from earlier in the thread! The new setup sounds great too! You're rockin and rollin now!
You know, I still hear your SIAA spot just about every morning while watching news....I always say, "there's John!"

OK, I think I'll hijack the thread to post a demo. I saw it last night when I received my "Daily Summary" and hoped I would get a crack at it before the job was closed out -- and that I would be around if and when the lead came in. As it turns out, I was out all morning and am about to head out for most of the afternoon and evening but the lead did show up during one of the brief windows when I was near my computer. The seeker was looking for 75 auditions and had received 71 by the time I got my invitation. Uncharacteristically, I recorded an alternate version to post as the "Related Demo," which I can't imagine anyone ever listens to. It is very close to the one I submitted as a custom demo but I'll post both here and see if anyone has a preference.
