I rather liked the second one. It sounded more natural, less forced. The first one, it sounded more obligatory (and likely to be putting whoever was putting you up to it on the Naughty list!), but the second sounded like you were doing a surprise favor for a Good Little Boy Or Girl.

| Yeah Lee, I think I have to cast my vote for the second take as well. You seemed a little more comfortable in the character. Did you explain that you uploaded a second read as your "related demo" in the comments section?

Lee, to my ears both takes were the same Santa - just slightly different touches on the delivery and push. As a producer in a former life, if you are going to submit an alternative, it should be very different from your first read...either change the character completely, or do something else emotionally that is far from the first read. In this case Santa could have moved way into the mic and showed a lot more intimacy.
Harken back to the days of live auditioning...you usually only get one chance to do the read and if you want to have a second take at it, you ask the producer for one more with a different approach. If they have time, they'll usually say OK, but it had better be different!

Is it me, or should everyone know how to cook hamburgers when they reach adulthood. And doesn't everyone know to not touch a pan on the stove.... TOS lead that cracked me up...

| I think I know who that client is Colin. I did a bunch of reads for them about 2 months ago and they were sending me videos and tons of emails and then... nothing.

Yea Colin - I was caught in torrential rain - 5:42 PM one September for real in Houston on Westheimer, west of the Galleria - A low spot - water up to the tailpipe wind blowing rain sideways - I gunned my company car - one foot on the gas to keep from stalling out - one on the break to control speed - Next morning less than 1000 feet away from that low spot a tornado had taken the roofs off 6 houses - Touchdown was at 5:48 PM 6 minutes later !!!
Here is my version - Land Rover = Houston I hear YA! odds 1 to 1 for me!

And now...working from deep within his brand-spanking-new iso-chamber (and knowing exactly what a grilled sausage feels like; it's a tiny space), I also flipped a burger, Colin.

Robert I think it needs a faster pace, but it's 2am and I'm having trouble keeping my eyes open.
What do you think of my new jingle... it needs background music and another persons voice sing back up.

Yes, I did. Considering how many of our custom demos never get listened to, I find it hard to believe that anyone ever listens to the "related" demo, but I really didn't have anything else that filled the bill.

I agree. However, since Voice123 requires a second, related demo, I had to submit something and I didn't want to link to my generic character demo since this client was specifically looking for Santa Claus. I wish I had thought of your idea of moving into the mic, but I didn't. And, honestly, I don't expect the seeker to listen to the related demo. I'm usually pleasantly surprised if they listen to the custom one.

Wow.... it's so weird to even be back on this forum. I'm kinda drifting away, much like many of you over to the NEW place which feels so open and airy and clean and uncluttered!
Anyway, here's my musings, plus two that I've submitted...
Amanda: Your Avon read just sounds stilted, forced. I'd love you hear you telling me like a friend, not like you're reading a script. As it is, it's just a read... nothing to set it apart from the pack.
Colin; I submitted for the hamburger thing, too. My best guess is that it's oriented towards young adults, maybe teens or even pre-teens?
Thom, I'm one of your biggest fans, but your Land Rover didn't do it for me. They specifically said they wanted the 'movie trailer' type of voice up front, then easing off (you DID ease off). But the opening voice sounded out of your comfort zone. The rest was pure Wilkins! And what we would give here in Atlanta for torrential rain! We've been in a devastating drought here for about 8 years. We're under 100% watering restrictions... can't wash the cars, water the lawns... it's awful.
Robert, I love your voice on the burger thing. I was hearing a low-end ringing on my speakers. I have NO IDEA what was causing it, but I'll bet Colin could help isolate it. Nice read, though.
Deby, don't feel badly that I'm not critiquing your jingle, it's just that I hate jingles. Nothing personal. I've always hated them.
Here's my Land Rover and also one I just submitted from here, believe it or not! - for a Vets day tribute. Can't believe I actually got one in!

Remember the Gentry car spot from several days ago? I got a 5-star rating on it with a 2.2 average rating from the seeker. So... there must be someone else who got 5 stars because I haven't heard a peep from them.

I've gotten a few like that, Colin, where I've gotten 5 stars and the average has been much lower, and I have YET to land a job here since CrapCast was instated. BTW, how are you still getting leads? I thought your subscription had expired?
