Just delivered the first of what will be at least 4 spots per month, with additional "teasers" as needed. Small market - high volume. The nice thing I just found out today is that they have been using one of those "really quick ads" companies that pay the talent $15 per spot.

Here is the audition that worked for them. She liked the ad libbing. I liked the copy. There was some confusion on the lead - the first time it went through, the music wasn't available, so she sent it to me directly after listening to the dry track. This has the music behind it.

That was really nice Connie. Its great when we actually get to read copy that we like.

Its also nice to see a company that realizes they can get so much more when they go with a real pro instead of some bang-em-out ad factory. Kudos.

"Sophisticated, rugged, timeless." That's your demo exactly -- except for the "rugged" part.

What I find really odd is the original specs for this job had a link to a piece of audio that was highly distinctive -- in what I thought was almost a wacky, Matthew Lesko sort of way -- that made me think they were looking for something really over the top.

They said, "Please, please , please listen to voice demo attachement though the link you will find below. We are looking for this "style" read.....mimic this tone if possible.

http://voice123.com/files/thedumpgeneric.wma "

That's what prompted me to submit the demo posted below. And in what I swear is the only other instance besides my Santa audition in which I used the "Related Demo" to submit an alternate read of the same script, I sent them one even more over the top.

Apparently, they heard your demo, came to their senses, and decided to go in a much classier direction.

BTW, they never even opened mine.

Beautiful, Connie; excellent vocal choreography there.
You brought playfulness to so many words that the whole thing took on a life of its own, especially the first read.

You're a real pro, and that was a real pro turn.

Voice On!

The audition I got was for a female voice...so I guess you're kidding? Sometimes I miss your subtle humor - or perhaps we'll call it sledgehammer humor -

No, Lee ain't kidding, Connie.

Those are the directions we menfolk were given. I tried to copy their guy a bit, too.
Witness mine:

(And Lee and I couldn't possibly have simultaneously imagined a weird read, could we?)

Just goes to show (again) that you may as well read it the way you see it, 'cuz the Seeker had no idea.

Wow...Got lucky I guess.

I hope. Uploaded the first spot today - not sure they have been able to retrieve it yet.
