Just got a message on my voicemail that I've landed my first gig thru the voiceoverdirectory.com; an e-learning job that I've done quite a bit of over the past year.

Will call the client tomorrow to discuss specs and details, but it's good to get a call. The well has been quite dry lately, ESPECIALLY on V123.

I'm attaching my audition for whatever it's worth. Be forewarned: It's dry material, but the best part is it's simply my natural speaking voice, which is how I prefer to do all of my e-learning.

Nice read Scott. I also do quite a bit of e-learning work. Actually about 5 billable hours today. It is oftentimes very dry copy to read but it has been a financial lifesaver for me many times. Of course I wish all my jobs could be big exciting commercial spots but I am grateful that I have been able to maintain these clients at this level of my career. I see it as kind of paying our dues until we hit the big time.

Wow! Scott, that is awesome. I played your demo and instantly the Land 'o Lakes Indian came oozing out through my speakers. Are you still using that same microphone? Sheesh, whatever you're doing keep it up because when she ( the LOL indian) had collected herself on my mixing console she came over and did this thing with her tounge and my ear...

oh wait, that was your voice...sheesh, I'm gonna go feel wierd now....

Jacob, I seriously don't know whether to laugh, cry or be scared as hell! LOL..... same old EV RE-20 I've used for about 5 years now with the bare minimum of processing. I'm just blessed in that God gave me some resonance in my diaphragm I guess! Wanna hear something funny, too? A while back someone else on this forum said, and I quote: "Your voice has a texture that sounds like a warm, golden waffle, smoothered in butter and maple syrup." LOL! I'm getting a bit concerned about all the food analogies. I may have to rethink my 'branding'.

Max: thanks so much, sweetness. Coming from someone as immensely talented as you, this is just about the highest praise I think I've ever gotten on this forum. Thanks from the bottom of my heart.

You make dull sing, smile, and tap-dance, Scott.

That's a real gift. Kudos, my friend!

Scott, we all like it when you are happy. Not that you were not before, but good to see the positive side of you. IdiotCast has gotten alot of us down.

'Ember... thanks, but... um, you really WOULDN'T want your voice to sound like that because, uh, you'd sound like a GUY and then you wouldn't get all those sex-kitten reads you seem to land with regularity.

Thank you all for helping perk me up. Admittedly, after the latest MoronCast debacle I was somewhat out of kilter. I think my kilt's fitting a bit better now thanks to my dear friends here.

I'm new to voice123 and just started reading the blogs this week. Good luck with your e-learning project. I have to ask, are most of their voicover jobs via home studio??

Good luck!

LOL...ok, well, maybe not exactly like yours, but just good naturally. You've met me in person and you know I don't talk sex kitten naturally. When I'm doing the sex kitten, I'm in front of my mic doing some shoulder rolls, winks, and twists to get the mood right. It'd be nice to just smile and go and be great!

and I'm SO glad you're getting back in the kilt!!

Thanks, Pat... yes, all of the e-learning I've done (and I do quite a bit of it) is from my home studio. This particular client is in the Baltimore area and I live in the Atlanta area.
