If you haven't seen this yet, it's humorous, yet sad at the same time. I feel for this girl -- been there -- but she will most probably end up more successful than the winner, because of the press she's receiving!

A teen perspective on education in America...

Good stuff, Kim.
Poor thing.
She must use President Bush's script-writers.

I've seen this too, and heard it on radio all day....painful and uncomfortable to witness. Nervous? Tongue-tied? Lost her train of thought or didn't understand the question? I feel sorry for her since the world is now having such a ball with it. Teens often have trouble clarifying their thoughts in a capsule-like form, but in front of a mic, national audience, hot lights, time clock AND for a competition??!! Whew!

Ouch...that was very painful to watch.....

We don't have maps?

The correct answer is that most Americans in the US are too caught up in themselves that they don't care enough to look where we are in connection with the rest of the world.

Narcissists Unite!

Laughing

I'm still laughing....poor girl.

Embarassed

I watched it a few times because I couldn't believe it. Did you see the host trying hard not to laugh? Poor girl tried to spew out everything her coach had taught her at once. Interestingly enough, she graduated with a 3.5 GPA. Is that a statement about SC government schools? You be the judge.

Here's something I ran across to help us better understand Miss SC's train of thought.

I honestly don't know how to feel about this. The little angel on my shoulder is telling to me to feel bad for this poor kid now that she is being laughed at all over the world.

Now, the much bigger and louder devil on my other shoulder thinks this is hysterical and she deserves it for participating in some wretched beauty contest that even pretends to care at all what these girls have to say.

That little bastard gets me into more trouble.......

Erik, I was with ya babe until I saw her on the Today Show this morning. she had a some time to consider her answer and still couldn't come up with much better. Also, the interview itself was fairly painful. She's very pretty but well, let's just leave it at that Wink

Erik, please keep that little guy in check, as one of those 'wretched beauty contests' paid for my entire college education!

September, yes, I saw that. Her answer didn't improve, but her attitude will help her ride this publicity for some peripheral opportunities.

I feel so sorry for this kid. Her nervousness got the best of her. (so I hope) You know what they say about negative publicity? "there's no such thing" Maybe Jay Leno will use her on "Jaywalking"?

You know this brings up an interesting point. Shouldn't we have ugly contests. I mean the beauty queens can go on to modeling jobs with no college credits at all. Shouldn't we give the college money to the ugly ones who are going to have to use their brains.

I think beauty contests encourage plastic surgery. I knew a beauty queen that got silicone breasts so she could try to go from local beauty queen to national beauty queen. After all that surgery she still lost. She did end up stealing my ex boyfriend though. Confused

You lost nothing, Deby. If that's all it took to turn his head and attention, he wasn't worth a tattered pop filter.

It all turned out for the breast...uhhh...best.
