Hey all! I'm very excited to be here. My name is Kevin M. Connolly and I've been doing anime voice overs here in Dallas and Houston for about 3 years now, but I'm really wanting to branch out to the other varieties of VO work.
I suppose I fall under the "classically" trained actor cliche, doing my undergrad in San Antonio at UIW, and my grad work at UCLA. I moved to Dallas to specifically learn more about the field, and waited a little too long to join this community! Thanks for letting me play in the sandbox with you all!
Cheers!

Welcome Kevin!
I lived in the DFW area for a while - it's got quite a bit of Anime work (Funimation is there, I think).
In any case, glad to meet you,
Joe J Thomas

Thanks Joe! I've been very lucky out at FUNimation, ADV Films in Houston, and now Illumitoon in Ft. Worth.
I just checked out your site and saw you played Namor in the Marvel Ultimate Alliance game!!! I did the whole "On-line" audition for that role, but I got the impression they didn't use any of the auditions. If I can ask, is that how you got the role, or did the company end up just using professional talent locally? Cheers!

Hey Kevin,
I found out about the competition through a friend at a VO class I was taking. He said they were looking for Bruce Banner, but that role was gone by the time I checked it out.
I did the "On-line" audition as well, then sort of forgot about it until I got an e-mail notice. The producers I spoke with at the session listened to thousands of auditions (on-line and at events like ComiCon). Sounded pretty grueling. The game even has a short video of out-takes from the live events, and some of them were pretty scary!
The lady they got for Jean Gray is an actress, but not a VA. The guy for Bruce Banner was fairly young, and definitely a gamer, with just a tinge of character actor, I believe.
The gig had a side benefit for me, as it was a SAG project. So, now I'm "Sag eligible" (but I haven't joined yet). That's a potential boon out in LA.
All in all, it was a lot of fun - nice people (and definitely over-worked!).
So, that's the low-down for you - ttfn,
Joe J Thomas
