I have generally considered it a bad sign if a seeker has opened my demo and not given me a rating but there is an "average rating" shown for the project. I figure this usually means he did not think enough of my demo to bother rating it.
However, I just landed this one and my demo was unrated, yet the average rating was 3.6.

Y'know Lee, the exact same thing happened to me here a few weeks ago. The seeker had opened mine, but not rated it. Yet he'd given an overall average of something like 3.2 or so to all the submissions. And yet I got hired. Go figure.

I like your voice on this. It's a good fit.

And good for you, Buddy!

Hearty cheers, Lee. Well done.
Your strong, friendly tone makes that work very well.

Of course, since I'm no longer a subscriber, you'll end up getting all the work that I wouldn't have gotten anyway. And that's quite a lot.

Hey Lee congratulations!!

Now, sorry for the slight threadjack, but I've gotta ask people's opinion's on this.

I've been a lurker/sometimes poster since last summer. I did one month and did not resign (smartcast launched in the middle of said month). During that month, I found my ratings to be all over the place. From my experience with that, and from what I've read over the past 8 months or so, it seems to me that the seekers don't view the ratings as a big deal.

I see talent here all the time saying why did I get rated so low?!? Or where the average rating is 3 or what have you across the board. My personal guess is they see the ratings and think ok yeah whatever I guess I gotta rate it. It's probably not their fault. Do they know what ratings mean to talent? Granted when I was rated it had just started, but I had one demo go from 5, to like 0, then back to 3. What the heck is their criteria? It's frustrating to read posts here and seeing what low ratings mean and do to people. And it just seems that seekers are just rating on a whim.

Now, it's my belief that ratings are displayed to other seekers to give them an idea of how popular that talent is? Like an average or something? Do they realise the importance? Am I completely off the mark?

Nice. I didn't get rated for a project where the average was 3.2 last week...who knows what could happen!

Keep sellin' that hope.

Congrats Lee - great job!

I think some seekers have a way of making up their mind by ranking voices that they won't pick and leaving the ones they like unranked so they can sort through them.
Just a hunch.

Lucas....just don't let it get to you. Let it slide off your back like a drop of water slides off a duck. Let the voice inside you be more powerful than the voices outside of you.

Lee....Congrats.

Well done Lee! Only proves what we already know: the ratings don't mean a thing!
