Been a slow couple weeks for me for sure. I think what may have happened is that it happened that a lot of the auditions I was submitting were for higher priced jobs, not only because of the money, but also those just happened to be the ones I fit the best. And now Smartcast is showing me the repercussions. "You want to get the high paying jobs?! Then you will have NO JOBS AT ALL!"

No soup for me.

Well in another thread Scott talks about going the extra mile for a college professor.

In this audition there was not even a script. They wanted me to make it up. They said the budget was very low but that it could save lives. I quoted them $100 for all the production...writing the script, editing, ect. I told them if they just wanted my voice though they could have anything on this audition for free. They could have my voice for free. My nephew committed suicide so for me money was really no issue.

I would not have felt like a decent human being if I had asked for more. I followed my conscience. This has nothing to do with low balling this is a moral issue to me. (I was rewarded with 5 stars....but I never heard anymore about it)

Deby, I'm sorry about your nephew...I applaud you for doing that and offering it at no charge. I know what it's like to feel so passionate about a subject that it would be impossible to accept money. It was beautifully read.

Thanks Marilyn,

Here's one where there were two characters....only one script.....One character is kind of "flighty"

I second Marilyn's post. My condolences to you Deby on the loss of your nephew. Beautiful read too. Very sincere & warm. It's obvious this was close to your heart.

Embarassed Thanks Scott.....your too kind.

Allison thanks as well....this tragedy was not recent though...It happened years ago. It's still depressing when I think of it though. He was only 19 played the drums....had the longest eyelashes....I was down right jealous of his eyelashes.....He got his girlfriend pregnant right before she broke up with him. He took a loan for a truck and got in an accident and totaled it before it was paid off. I guess every thing seemed really bleak for him.....He first tried to do it with fumes from the car in the garage. My sister who is a nurse found him not breathing but was able to give him CPR and bring him back....He was never quite the same though....Memory loss....A few years later he threw himself off a sky scraper in Indianapolis. There was no bringing him back after that.....

Anyway I'm sorry to bum everyone out with this. I just hope that "they" are lucky with their prevention campaign. I also wanted to show support for Scott and what he has been doing lately for rather generous fees.

I always loved Sam Eliot's voice -- "The Dude Abides..." -- and thought I'd take a crack at this one. Some pretty good writing in here...

Thanks Robert. I appreciate the the kind words, but the critique even more.

As far as looking like early springtime?!?!? I better update that picture. The seasons have changed, and it ain't early springtime anymore, I'll tell you that!

Just what we need around here, Josh. (Sigh).

My southern soul sister emerges again. It's at times like these I wish I did not have a photo.

I just listened to both Wolf reads. I like the quick pace of Barry's but there are some plosives.

Travis paints a real pretty picture.....the music might work for you or against you. If they play Shania Twain and other more modern country they may hate it. If they are more the Kenny Rogers, Lorreta Lynn type of station you might be in luck.

Quite frankly I was surprised that the script was that long. Most listeners would probably switch the dial in search of music. Ofcourse that may just be my suburbia, urban attitude....

I think all of your demos I had listened to previously were in the "Beef -- It's What's for Dinner" style and I was thinking that's all you do. But that Knoxville Toyota spot surprised me. It was more Dave DeAndrea style (that's a good thing).

Just for comparison, here's my LC Ford spot. I think yours is better.

I also concur with Deby. You did a nice job on that WOLF piece but the copy goes on forever (not your fault) and I'd be long gone before they ever got around to playing any music.

Agreed. Travis you have showed some sweet range this week.
And for best perfomance in a category that is not Dave De Andrea... Lee... Nice Car spot.

Here's why I get rated in the two's
