I have been out of the radio business for about 8 years and am looking to get into the voice business. I currently have one old spot that I wrote and produced online and you can access it here.

I'm in the process of rebuilding my home studio and plan on being functinal by the end of March, 2008. It could be ready sooner if I get clients wishing my services.

Hi Harley,
I listened to your demo. I didn't know if all the voices were yours. As much as I love Alvin and the Chipmonks, you really need a new demo. The spot is amusing but, I still don't really know what you sound like. It doesn't really show me your personality. There are hundreds of radio announcers on here. What makes you different from the rest of them. What products might your voice be best at. Can you do a hard sell as well as a soft sell? Your demo does not answer these questions.

Deby, thaks for taking the time to give your opinion. The voices were done by me and the wife, they certainly are cheesy I'll admit.
My generic reading voice is the tag at the end. I'll work on getting something more current for you to have a listen to. Again thanks!

I was also unsure which were yours and which were 'the wife's.' 20 seconds of chipmunk sounding voices is perhaps a bit much as anyone can sound like a chipmunk/kid if they use pitch alteration.

It didn't work for me as a commercial... it starts out more like a character reel so when the tag comes in at the end I had to listen to the whole thing again just to understand what relevance the clip had to the product. I did like the tag at the end though, (maybe cos I am a sucker for the American radio announcer voice) but like Deby says, it is not enough to show us whether you can do different reads, sell me a product, endear youself to the listener etc.

It's another case of a demo that doesn't do justice to the voice actor.

I had to listen a dozen times to figure out what you were saying at the end. I'm still not sure what the name or town is. Poor Boys' Brakes? The mix muddy and you don't annunciate clearly.

Ok, so I didn't put a very good spot out there to begin with. I am in the process of putting together my new stuidio and ripped off a raw read tonight in hopes of getting it out there for your discerning ears. Check the link in the 1st post of this forum subject. it's titled "FriendlyRaw.mp3"

I personally think I still need some work on my setup to get rid of those annoying "s's"

But I believe you'll get a good feel for my vocal sound from this spot.

Again, thanks for taking the time to listen and critique my demo's. It's great when a community such as this is willing to help wannabe's like me.
