Well, they must be pretty fast listeners over at Fluent. About 3 hours ago I whined about them not having opened any leads and now they have opened all of them. I got me a 5 king grin so even if I don't end up getting the gig, I'm still chuffed.

Just curious, did anyone else audition for the "New Business Pitch: The Spark"? I got a 4 when the avg was a 2.8 and it's closed now. Just wondering what it took to nab this one.

Here's the demo that earned me a 2.

Dave et al -- Oh, go ahead, boys! Talk ratings all you want. It's like asking kids in school not to compare grades!

Lee -- Yep, you did the best Karloffian read on the Seuss! Kudos -- hope it means it's yours. Chuff on!

(What was the direction for the Sparks?)

Oh...I guess Jeff wasnt available.

Nothing here today for me -- just 4 or 5 juicy deletables. Here's one I did for voices today, though -- sorry, no fun ratings to bandy about.

Thay asked for friendly, easy, yet professional delivery. For a web site.

Lee, if I have to lose the Fluent project, I'd want it to be to you. Yours was the one I picked as my personal favorite. I hope you get it!

Okay, here's the Sparks piece that earned me a "4" but apparently not the gig.

Since Diane says it's OK to talk ratings, I'll just mention that my Karloff/Grinch has been rated and is still very much in the running as of this point. Every audition has been opened.

I appreciate your subtlety and restraint, David -- of course, your read was pretty darn good too, as I recall.

And so appropriate to be talking about Seussian reads, so close to Mr. Geisel's birthday!

Lee:

Can't figure out why your 'spark' audition was rated so low, unless they were looking for a quirky delivery or something off the wall. I thought yours was just fine.

Diane:

Your office filing audition wasn't quite up to your usual best, but it can be a dull subject and hard to get passionate about, unless you've managed a ton of documents.

I got in on T Energy at the end. I don't know if it's got enough spooky or mystical going for it, or maybe too much? The project is getting a tough rating average. Here goes....

David --

This is a tough one -- just what is this T energy thing? Why is it so scary? How was the direction worded, exactly? All the reads here seem in the ball park. Can't imagine why the tough ratings.

And yeah, I just read the Dymo thing -- you know, like I'd tell it to a friend -- that approach, since they asked for easy and relaxed. It wasn't in my tool kit, but I figured I could use a nail file and do the same job. Wink
Anyway, it was also listed for men, and I heard a few other guys' reads -- I like it better read by a man.

Diane -- nice read on the DYMO thing, although I think they call it Dime-o rather than D.Y.M.O.

Since you posted yours, I'll post mine.

Here's what the T-Energy specs called for: "VO to be a deep, aged narration for a movie trailer, Broadcast not determined yet. This is a fantasy/period piece something out of Lord of the Rings. The test should be paced and deliberate. The character is a wise old man who is kept in a tower and is narrating as battle scenes are being played out. Must be feature film performance level. "And the lead itself was labelled "Sacred Narrator." I have no idea what the hell it's all about.

Here's the read that got me a 3.

Lee -- Thanks! I certainly felt relaxed and friendly while I was reading it, not to mention professional.
And right -- DIME-O! Laughing I figured that out after I submitted it. Ah, well -- I still like a man's read on it -- I think it has more clout that way.

I liked your T energy -- good for a trailer. Feature film level, in fact! I must give them credit -- that's quite a bit of direction given. Much more than I normally see on anything.

Hey everyone! Hope you’re all doing well.
It’s nice to be back in the forum (and studio) again. I’ve been catching up on my post reads and thought I would toss my version of TEnergy out there.
I got a 4 rating on this and I think it’s due to the little “extra” that I added to the end. Give a listen and see if you catch it.

BTW..Kent, Lee, Thom all sounded great!

Later.
Steve
