Thanks for your kind words. I posted though to give those who still can audition a better idea of what the seeker may be looking for. Sid, you should still go for it! I went with a subtle, whispy-kinda read that I thought sounded sophisticated... but their idea of sophistication may be a deep, smooth, strong read that you can obviously kick through the uprights.

(Or get a 2, and all our stats can come down together!)

Seriously, this is right in your squeezebox/wheelhouse.

Kent, if they didn't think that sounded "sophisticated" someone should get them a dictionary.

What the F***????!
Maybe it would be a 2 on a scale of 1 to 2.
Sheesh.

Not gonna do it Kent. Listening to current up-scale automotive spots (Mercedes/Volvo/Lexus...etc) what you gave them is right on the money. I tried it but hated what I did and was afraid of a "minus 3" for a rating.

On another note...last night I auditioned for an automotive vocal tag. They already had one vocal but the dealer said it was "too high" and wanted something deeper. I gave it a shot and they gave me a 5 this morning. Personally I didn't think much of my audition but I had to add in the comments "30yrs Automotive Voiceover/Production Experience". Hey Chris M.....did you get it??????

Loved that, Sid! Very *manly*. Very Happy We're always our own worst critic. Wink Have they chosen you for the job? You'd certainly deserve it!

Haven't got it yet but if Chris Mezzolesta auditioned then I don't have a chance. Chris is a much much better singer.

It amazes me that someone could rate your audition at 5 - but still not hire you. Smile But there are still a lot of things about this business that mystify me. Wink I haven't run across Chris yet, but I'll look forward to it. Smile

I love singing myself and would *love* to get more involved in jingles - but I don't do the production which kind of puts me at a disadvantage.

All the best,

--Jodi

Further proof that many seekers have no business rating anyone or anything. Maybe Voice123 needs to develop something called "SmartRate." In much the same way as SmartCast uses some secret formula to ascertain whether we are qualified to be given the opportunity to audition, and in what order, SmartRate could determine if a seeker is qualified to pass judgement on the voice talents and not allow them to do so unless they pass muster.

David,
Here's my *%@! Cat...
I'm sorry all... If you need to blast me out of the stratosphere I will completley understand. This is a total waste of air...

Seriously, A Mime wearing a gasmask and speaking through a megaphone could have produced a better audition than this...

Thank you Sid. Now if I could just convince a client to depart with his "gold."

Well... by contrast... here's one I did in the "production sweat shop" today for Scott's Lawn Care Products. Don't know how this happened. Usually they have studio produced spots. The normal guy is very low key. Scott's is a product of Marysville Ohio, a suburb of Columbus, so it was kind of neat to do these spots for our local stations...

I'll add to the chorus of folks who say that Kent got hosed. Unreal.... I'm the proud owner of a couple of 2s and 3s here of late meeself.

Here's my Awards Show read. No rating / unopened yet. Interesting direction: youthful and upbeat, though the audition copy begins to tell the story of a down-on-his luck hobo. Hmmmm.
