Wow, Travis. You guys sound awesome together! Great job! Listening to some of these auditions, I have to wonder if I'm really missing out by not being able to fully produce my spots before sending them in? Do you guys do anything in particular to have your auditions stand out? Besides your amazing voices, I mean. Wink

All the best,

Jacob:

Thanks for submitting your Cat audition. When it's a character voice, who can tell if it's good or bad? Only the seeker knows for sure.

But actually, I was asking what happened to the seeker on this job. Have they selected a winner? Does anybody know?

Hi Jodi.

I actually believe you don't do yourself any favors by adding "production elements" into your auditions, as far as your chances for getting hired. Most voice-seekers are looking for bare reads - often they'll mix your audition over their video rough to let their client hear how you'll work with their commercial. -- can't do that if you've added music or sound effects. On the other hand, it's a lot more fun to "finish" the commercial - and the music and sound effects serve as watermarks to keep your work from getting stolen. In a few instances, it may help producers to hear what you were going for with your audition.

In my own case, I seem to be more of an "artist" (in terms of temperment, not neccessarily talent) than a video "professional". That means it's more important to me to complete my little creation than the efficiency I would gain from just producing and sending VO.

The best thing you can do to make your audition stand out is to stand out in the audition.

Thanks, Travis. Smile That explains quite a lot. And it makes a lot of sense.

All the best,

Napa Valley?
Pronunciation?

I am doing a piece for this 60" TV commercial for a Californian production house and I am nervous of the pronunciation. They want an English voice, not American, so I stuck to what I do best. This is my music I stuck to it coz they want to infer a threesome will be had by these three actors. I swear it's true.

I have done work for these guys before and they are real pro's. Really good producers, but I want to ensure that everyone understands it.

Waddaya say?

Patrick -

Wow, really -- that's the concept? Interesting...

Your read combines three things I love, however (no connection to the implied threesome above) -- wine, California, and British voices. Napa is correctly pronounced, as is all the rest.

Beautifully done!

Simon...I think your Elmo ended up with a slight mexican accent. Kermit was not spot on but, the fact that he wasn't spot on is not the real issue it's the timing of the delivery...... Overall I think you did a good job on something that is not easy!

Here is my cartoon read. It's actually for a thrush character not a chicken. It is a spoof of a food critic (like on Iron Chef)
I normally do not put in 3 reads but, the 3 characters are so different from each other. I think the second is the most bird like. The 3rd is the most adorable and, the first is the most pompous. Not talking

Tell me what you think.

That's adorable, Deby. You rock. Wink (I have to admit, I especially liked the laughter at the end. Wink) I'll be curious to hear how the client ends up rating this.

All the best,

My aunt and uncle used to live in Napa Valley - and yes, your pronunciation was just fine. Smile That gave me shivers. Wow. Wink Nicely done, Patrick!

All the best,

Patrick that was deep and serious
Sexy and almost intimidating.

Now they just need me to be the voice of the young ripe berry ready to release my white chocolate.....(LOL)

I timed your spot though. If you get the job you might have to shave 8 seconds off it. Is it for a website or what???? Kiss

Patrick,

Excellent read... real deep and rich. You've got great pipes!

I'm not sure about the music... I'm so used to hearing these with more of a "classical" music bed... especially with the English accent... but given the intended visual, maybe you should go with the stereotypical Barry White music bed... or maybe Marvin Gaye.

Thanks for posting!

Thanks Deby... and yes... the timings a bit out right now, mainly coz the thing is going through a process. It's such a wild concept that delicacy has to be the order of the day.

Herewith the first visuals....

Wow.

Patrick... that's incredible.

Personally, I LOVED the music!
And the read.

Wow.

Now we know what God will sound like when James Earl Jones dies.
