Starting over.....

Hello all:

I am in the process of getting back into voice over work.

I have worked in vo's in the past doing radio commercials and voice overs for TV commercials. I had several businesses that I did work for on a regular basis. That being said, my material sounds severely dated.

I need to put together a current demo reflecting my voice today.

Any suggestions on obtaining copy to use in the production of a new demo?

A voice coach is something I've been looking into and plan on doing before I even attempt to get work. Anyone know of any in Indiana, Kentucky or Tennessee?

I can use all the recommendations I can get. Even though I'm just interested in voice over work for smaller markets, I want to get off on the right foot.

I am presently doing weather forecasts on weekends for several radio stations, would excerpts from that work in a demo?

Don't put the cart before the horse. Don't worry about a demo yet. If you're thinking about a voice coach, take care of that business first. Discover where your strong and weak points are. As your coach works with you he/she will undoubtedly help provide material for you to work with. Additionally you can practice with the leads that come thru here.

Take your time. Smooth over the rough spots, make your strengths shine, lose any bad habits, perfect the fine points.

Then, when it's time, have your demo professionally done.

When someone grabs some copy and creates a demo for the sake of creating a demo, it always pales in comparison to the stuff that's out there that is the result of sweat, hard work, and paying one's dues.
