Thanks Kent and Lori!! I just realized my post wasn't clear... I got a 4 on the PSA aud, and a 5 on the papercut aud. That one called for a "Sally Struthers" type read. My comment about tongue in cheek was about them calling me. My feeble attempt at humor.
Deby, I like your Mollys. I auditioned for that one early last week. But my rating wasn't the greatest. _________________ Caryn Clark... THE Hip Chick Voice!

Get to the middle of this vid for the "Sally Struthers" type read from the woman herself. She did an overly emotional, almost crying beg. I suspect the "paper cut" was a satire of her Christian Children's Fund commercials so prevalent "back in the day."

You're right, Colin. They were looking for a Sally Struthers "Save The Children" sob-story voice. Not necessarily an impression, just to get the gist of it for a parody.
Here's my take on it-- I got 5 stars. They closed the job at 27 submissions. I'll be curious to see who gets this one!

I don't mean to hog the L&R department, but I had to post my Mafia Boss demo. I don't normally submit more than one take on a demo but there are two ever so slightly different reads on this one.

Lee, I did that Mafia thing, too. You reminded me a lot of Joe Pesci with your delivery. The second one sounded almost identical to your first, though, so I'm not sure of the advantage of submitting both. But good job.
Kent: Man you have a voice like gold. Wow.
I also did the Phantoms thing and as much as I'm in love with your voice (and I truly am), what you delivered (and me, too) may not be 'creepy' enough for the directions they gave. But I've given up on trying to interpret the directions on these things and merely read it the way I feel it. Most of the time when you hear what the client ultimately chooses, it comes nowhere close to what their directions were anyway.
Loved your read, though! _________________ Scott R. Pollak Warm. Real. Natural. www.voicebyscott.com

I thought I'd share this read for childrens' books that received a five rating.
I think my scribblings about why I wanted the job may have helped. What do you think?
"I am a veteran at reading to children -- a heartbreaking job -- because before you know it, they develop the ability to read for themselves and no longer have use for your story telling! What a blessing it would be to be a reader for untold minions of little ones via recorded media."

Michael, I liked your read, although so far EVERYONE has gotten a 5 on this one, so they're loving everything they hear.
I heard a TON of ambient room noise in your audition, though. Sounded probably like a noisy computer fan.
As far as the scribblings, I would suspect the ONLY time a client really even sees or reads those is when they've come down to a final decision and are trying to narrow it down or choose from between a couple of top contenders, and perhaps are looking at experience, price, equipment, etc. I've really never found that a personal plea has worked for me. But hey... go for it and I hope you get it! _________________ Scott R. Pollak Warm. Real. Natural. www.voicebyscott.com

Michael - I enjoyed your gentle reading of the children's story very much. Wonderful pace for the little ones and very comfortable - well done. _________________ www.kentlaturno.com
