Why is it we drive on a parkway and park in a driveway.
Why do we call them buildings when they've already been built. _________________ www.ColinCampbellVoice.com

Why is it that we have a device called a hot water heater? If the water is already hot, why should we need to heat it? _________________ For more voice over demos, my life story, and other foolishness, please visit my website at www.leegordonproductions.com |

Also, isn't "pregnant woman" just a tad tautologous?

Why are cigarettes available in the front of the pharmacy but you must walk all the way to the back for a prescription? _________________ All the best!

It might be "tautologous" if all women were constantly in a state of being pregnant. C'mon, Steve, you can do better! Although I will grant you that all pregnant women are in the constant state of being pregnant until no longer pregnant. And how! Maybe that's what you meant. |

Can somebody please tell me why my wife refers to her paycheck as “my money” that I can’t touch because it’s hers, but my paycheck is “the money” which she feels entitled to manage as well? _________________ Live truthfully under imaginary circumstances....--Stanislavski |

Then ponder this: when do you really pre-heat the oven? When you turn it on, you are heating the oven. Pre-heating should be the time before you heat it. In other words, whenever you are not using the oven, you are pre-heating it, unless you are never going to heat it again. _________________ For more voice over demos, my life story, and other foolishness, please visit my website at www.leegordonproductions.com |

Lee - Lee - Lee - deep down inside you know that the term pre-heating makes sense...but it could be that you don't do much baking. If the oven was constantly at 400 degrees, then you have a point, but it isn't. You need to wait for the oven to get to 400 degrees before you put in the cake batter, or the steak or the frittata. I have unfortunately fallen victim to the "oven-too-cool" = ruined dinner syndrome. _________________ Connie Terwilliger - New Yorker Cartoon

Connie -- I understand the concept of bringing the oven up to temperature before putting the food in. I do it myself for most things. I'm just saying that practice should be called "heating" not "pre-heating." Just a little fun with semantics. _________________ For more voice over demos, my life story, and other foolishness, please visit my website at www.leegordonproductions.com |

| And did you know that "flammable" and "inflammable" mean the same thing, not the opposite? What's up with that? And don't even get me started on"disassemble". |

You know, Lee - you have are correct. Perhaps adding "pre" to the word was a way to help people understand that you need to do it ahead of time. _________________ Connie Terwilliger - New Yorker Cartoon
