Hello everybody! My name is Laura and I am completly new in this forum and in the "voice-over market". I am originally from Spain, but I left my country five years ago and I´ve been living in Holland since then and until last april when I moved to the United Arabian Emirates. Because of my constant moving, I haven´t been able to become an over voice talent wich has always been my dream. Five years ago a followed an over voice course and now I´m trying to continue with it.
I found this web by chance and I am amazed about how big it is and how well seems to work. I believe I might be finally able to work as an over voice talent, thans to The Voice 123 Team, althoug I know I need as much help as you can give me.
I would appriciate a lot any information or advice you can give me about studies I should follow, equipment I should get, how you do normally work from home, or any other thing you think I should know.
Thanks to everybody. Hope to chat a lot with you! |

Welcome Laura,
This sponsored site by Voice123 was conceived with the idea of having a place in which to communicate in a more active way, where you can participate in open discussions, submit your inquiries, ask technical questions, suggest new ideas, get critique and feedback on your profile and demos, look for help and help others, find new information related to the industry or just share your mind.
We really want voice over Savvy Forum to be a gathering tool for the voice over community and a great resource for you.
We are hoping to see you around.

Bienvenido Laura! Hay muchas oportunidades en voz encima para personas que hablan español, y más si usted también hace traducciones. There are many opportunities in voice over for people who speak Spanish, more if you also do translations. If you're fluent in other languages, you'll definitely increase your job opportunities.
As for learning about the voice over industry, this forum is a great place to start. The Geek forums will give you a lot of information about the technical aspects of voice over work; and the Newbie and Pro sections cover a lot of the quirks of the industry. Best of luck! |

Si Señor. My father was from Pontevedra in Spain and my mother from Havana. Spanish was my first language, but my twin sister and I spoke English by the time we were 4, mostly from watching TV, especially Batman. Everything was "holy" this and "holy" that -- "Holy, semantics Batman!" The only downside is that for a couple years the "bathroom" was the "batroom." That amused the adults in my family. Cheap thrills.
I speak Spanish at home every day and it provides maybe 40% of my VO work. |

| Hi MJ....you might remember me from the Minewurx contest...TGG...or Tom G......the premium membership allows you to receive and respond to leads that come in. leads based on criteria you establish in your profile....they come in and you chose to audition for them or not. If you audition for it, you are auditioning along with everyone else that has chosen to audition for it. The process is very easy. Whether the client selects you or not is up to them, so no one can really tell you how easy it is to get a gig. You may get a lot of gigs or you may get none. |

Hi Mary - Welcome!
I for one think the Premium Membership is worth it, if you're earnest about pursuing Voice Work... and it is Work.
Nobody will be able to tell you how easy (or when, or if) you'll get your first gig. Your mileage may vary, and the contents may have shifted during shipment
That being said, I find the audition process to be of value. Good practice. But you'll also need feedback. And though you can get some of that here, there's no substitute for a good VO class, mentor, or actual work.
So, how easy? That's up to you... but it will be work.
We'll help you where we can. There are plenty of good folks here.
Tell us more about you, your experience, equipment, etc. and I'm sure others will chime in.
Cheers,
Joe J Thomas

Hello Tom and Joe.
Tom, I do remember you from the Minewurx Contest. I have been trying to break into the voice over business for the past two years. I've had several jobs in my local area. My son created my website, and helped me set up my studio. I just recently joined the voice123 site, so I am trying to navigate and figure out whats going on, and considering upgrading to the Premium membership. Thanks for you input. Talk to you later
