David. I really liked it! had good variety of styles...I was interested enough to listen to the whole thing and not feel like I was just waiting for the end to come. Good job man. I don't know why, but I really liked the jeans spot....kind of had that Tom Bodette thing goin' on. I think that demo will definitely get you some work. There are other people here much more qualified than me to give demo critiques, but I wanted to give you my opinion having listened to it.

David.... killer demo, dude! Wow... terrific range, pacing, mix, style and capabilities. You got it all going guy. The only one I didn't care for was the "Alpha pack" piece because it's a bit strained for you. Also, the Lexmark and US Army spot back to back sound almost a bit too close. I'd move the Wrangler spot in-between them for a break in variety. I'd even consider ending the demo with the US Army spot although the Chevy one is a good one to end on too.

ATTENTION ALL WANNA-BE voice talents: THIS is what your demo should sound like. If you're not up to this level, then you have more work to do.

Great, great job, David. One of the very best I've heard here. You're a pro and it shows.

David:
I, too, will stand and cheer.
Loudly.
That's a demo, laddie. Makes me proud to be part of the community.
(But if many more of you lurkers burst onto the scene like THAT, I may just go full-time into my Amy Snively scrap-booking hobby.)
My only quibble is that your tone - to my ears - doesn't fit the brawn of the Strong US Army spot text.
Since you fit everything else like a silk glove, it jarred a mite. Personally, I'd take it out.
But I dare not disagree with Scott, who is Number 76 on my list of heroes.
So leave it in.
Well done.
Voice On!

Thanks for the kind words, gents. The BEST advice I received from a workshop instructor: do NOT drop the coin to professionally produce a demo until you are ready. I spent about 6 mos grinding away (still am); am hoping this demo reflects "being ready."

David

The demo's well produced since I'm guessing based on some of your comments they are pretty much demo cuts and not off air.

I think the only thing I notice is a tongue problem, maybe its just on some words but I did notice it. That said, I don't think what I noticed usurped the demo quality.

You should be able to get some work with it.

Hope this helps.

You've got it, Mister! Tom's right: great variety and I definitely wanted to keep listening. Peter has a point about some spots with unique tongue placement (I'm getting a little excited), but I wouldn't call it a problem. It just adds to the natural, everyday quality of your clips.

Who produced your demo? Nice job. Your producer may appreciate the plug on this forum.
