Here is my attempt to sound nice and corporate for voicemail. I'm not crazy about it. LET ME HAVE IT, PROS! But with good and bad, so I have a balanced idea of what I should be doing. I'd like to have a decent voicemail demo on my website and my last attempts were... Rolling Eyes

(I love that rolling eyes emoticon! I look for any excuse to use it!)

Sounds good to me. Here's one I did for a paying client yesterday. (This is before I de-popped a couple of P's... The fixed files have already been downsampled to A-Law 8 bit. But, you get the idea.)

Hi Phyllis - I think it sounds OK. But I think you can brighten it up a bit. I know you don't want to sound "chirpy" on a corp. phone system - but you don't want to sound "Sleepy" either. Did you use a desser? I know that has been mentioned somewhere lately - that is going to really flatten out your sound. You might think about EQ-ing a bit to liven it up. But - also - maybe liven up your delivery about 25%. jmho.

Phyllis... to sultry. Phone messages are supposed to be crisp and informative, not sexy.

Amy... too "perky." And.. too "sing song."

Perhaps. But I sent him three samples, and he chose this direction. And this was his email to me upon receiving the audio:

These are perfect. No changes needed. Exactly what we were looking for! Please reply with an address where you would like the check mailed.

Thanks again. You are blessed with a very warm and comforting voice, and I'm glad I found you. If I hear of anyone else that needs this service, I will be sure to pass your information to them.

My point only being that I think it's my job to give them what they want (within reason) even if it's a little different than what I'd choose for myself, you know?

A radio salesman and production guy go out to visit with a car dealer. They tell him he needs to develop a campaign. He says "do you mean a "good" ad?" Well... yes. The car dealer says "we tried good once and it doesn't work."

Colin, you're right. And it is embarrasing, I tell 'ya! I don't know what it is, but ever since I got back on the mic (after having a baby, and then menopause), my voice has a sexy tone that it never had before! I DO NOT try to sound that way and I can't figure out how to get rid of it! It's just too weird!! I don't know what happened to me. Embarassed

How ironic! After a baby and menapause... your voice gets sexy. It's kind of like the cruel joke God plays on men... when we get to middle age, we lose hair on our head and gain it on our ears! What's that about?

No problem...I'm 48 and have been shaving my head for 10 years on purpose....just a miniscule thing to get the ears while I'm at it! hahahaha
