Ok kids, even though I don't claim to be a character guru, I have done a few. So, here is my new character demo. If I may, the first bit was a real commercial I did that ran in the NY market for 26 weeks and the last bit was used for almost a year here in Cleveland as part of a promo package. Everything else was spec stuff I had done from auditions. I 've been kicking around doing this for a while. Embarassed

....thought you'd get this one by us, eh, Vic?
But you've gotta get up real early in the morning to sneak something past the Demo Demons, pal.
Now, to work:
As a rule, I don't really like character demos. They make me wince with the forced artificiality of it all. And there are a few truly great, great character voices around here; they make the rest of us sound like a Grade One talent show.
I bailed on it two months ago.
But - if you promise to wipe out the falsetto piece about the Mr. and Mrs. - I promise I'll tolerate this one. Aside from the Tiny Tim thing (please erase it; never to be heard again), you're not wandering too far from Vic Harris turf; you're doing neat little accent and cadence things while staying real.
And that works.
Falsetto Off!

Oh, for the love of Python - keep the falsetto (I like it - it's kinda like the surprise in the cereal box!)

Nice work Vic,
Joe

Keep the falsetto. That was a pretty good demo. Just needs a little better construction to the flow.

All right..all right...I'll bow to more informed opinion.
I love the falsetto.
It's great.
Sounds just like Tiny Tim/Mickey Mouse/Michael Jackson.
I was wrong.
The falsetto's wonderful.

Good job, Vic. You rule!

Advice Off!

That wasn't Mickey Mouse.....That was Oh No Mr. Bill from Saturday night live! And who can resist an adorable man made of clay. I've never even made a character demo.....but I like the voice it brought back memories of childhood.
