Hi Yves!

You certainly have a terrific voice! However, in our business, a strong French accent is a specialty item. When you need it, you really need it, but there's just not a lot of work for that sound.

If you are serious about booking mainstream VO work, a good next step for you would be a very skilled accent elimination instructor. Once you can speak English with a clear, neutral, North American accent, you'll have more opportunities. Plus you'll have a leg up on all those wine, perfume, and travel ads!

Good luck!

I thought your production work and voice quality were very, very good! However, Amy is so right about accents. I have a very thick southwestern accent that I have to overcome every time I get on a mic. When I first started in radio, I had my hand slapped many times for any kind of "twanging" that came thru in my delivery.

Amy and Lisa, I thank you so very much for the time you both took to critique my demo! Among other things, I really appreciate the compliments!! As for the accent, I've been working so hard over the last 10 years to minimize it as much as possible.

You see, I live in a 98% francophone market and I have to discipline myself to read out loud in English AT LEAST 1 hour a day, 7 days a week!! NOT a SINGLE exception since January 23rd '97...

Again, I thank you both very very much!

Yves
