I was advised by someone here to get this program (I forget who). Well, I have it, and I'm absolutely nothing but frustrated.

First of all...it will not detect my video camera when I'm trying to upload footage from it.

Secondly...every time i try to burn a DVD, it locks up my computer.

Is there anyone else out there with this program that can tell me why its doing these things?

Lisa,

I had a similar experience with Premier. It wouldn't pull video, and 9 times out of 10 when I launched it, it would crash my computer. I finally ended up going through a lot of red tape and sending it back to Adobe for a refund. What a mess!! Good luck!

Lisa,

What are you trying to accomplish? Are you trying to edit video?

Premiere can be and IS complicated. Adobe has not brought the ease of the former Cool Edit Pro (now Audition) into the video world with Premiere.

One sugestion for editing video with stellar preformance is Sony Vegas and DVD Architect (PC). Or, if Mac oriented; Final Cut Pro. Both are great preformers and have been used to edit feature movies, major video productions, and television programs. I use Sony Vegas which serves my purposes for 'sweetening' - and I do a lot of business in that arena.

Now, these programs are the best video editors in the price range, if you have more money to spend then there are a different set of parameters which could be discussed.

Toodles

I also have Premiere. From my experience, it sucks the life out of your computers RAM. Also, Premiere, IMHO, is not a beginner program. You should dump your footage onto your computer with some other method, then import it into Premiere. You can do some amazing things with Premiere if you get the proper training. See if there is a course at your local college.

Were you using Windows Moviemaker berfore? I got to tell you, I have seen some impressive stuff done with that too! There are websites devoted to Windows Moviemaker that have all the coolest tricks and plug-ins.

Good luck Wink

I coulda SWORN I posted a reply in here the other night! keine ahnung

Actually I've made about 30 or so videos using Movie Maker, and I've gotten to where I can do pretty good with it. But I have no way of burning the projects onto a DVD. My son in law, who built my computer, said that you have to convert the files over to get them to burn. Convert them to WHAT, I can't remember. But, he said I could do that in Premier. So, that's what I tried to do, but every time I tried to burn one, it would get 1/4 of the way thru and just lock up my pc tighter than a drum. Also...I can't understand why it doesn't recognize my video camera when I try to capture footage. Otherwise, I could get in there and use it...its pretty similar to the programs I was trained on at the TV station I used to work for. But...I guess what Vic said about it eating all the ram is just making it impossible for me to use.

I may look into that Sony Vegas thing, Frank.

Thanks for the feedback, you guys Very Happy

If anyone is just looking for a way to convert video and/or audio, check out Super, one of the great things about this software is, it's free.... lol, I won't dig into how everything goes but believe it or not it's pretty simple.

You can do lots with this software, have fun!

Here is the start page, you will have to go through three pages (information) to get to the real downloads, third page, all the way down.

Oh man. I was planning on making DVD's to send out in a few weeks.

Brian - I use the free programme Kate's Video Converter quite a lot which seems to be able to handle conversion to and fro of all kinds of video formats including DVD.
