Wow, Hail Wilson's vocal twin (well, almost)!
(Rob, since you undoubtedly haven't heard of Hail, go give his stuff a listen:

Rob, if you haven't already read the sticky at the top of the "Newbies" thread labelled "Random Thoughts for Newcomers", I think you ought to:

I'm no expert, so take these comments with a huge grain of salt.
The first thing that came to my mind is that you have a tight-sounding voice, not my personal favourite sound. The vocal quality could make you a very recognizable cartoon character though. Maybe you could focus on that part of the industry?

Thanks to those of you who've taken the time to listen and reply, I appreciate it. I would really appreciate more feedback and opinions from others as well, so please bring it on. And I'm not thin-skinned, so feel free to be brutally honest. I'll only get better by taking everything into account, so I don't need to be protected from negative opinions. Go for it!

Hey Rob:
You’ve got a great voice for character reads – but honestly I think in your current presentation there is more “read” than character.
Most of what could have been “real” was flat – as if you were reading. It’s obvious in the 1st, and 2nd cut and especially in the “My roommate” piece. All of the acting sounds very forced and “ready” to me.
I think the most natural and the closest you got to “real” was the political spot at the very end.
And I’m a bit confused by the German pieces in the middle of your commercial demo.
It would probably be a good idea to use that in a separate demo.
And as an aside… I clicked thorugh to your V123 site and wondered why the slug of your bio read “Family man, engineer, professor”
Are those the parts you play? Because I got the feeling that you were describing what you were in real life.
Anything on the page should probably be as it relates to your V/O career… because most people that would cast you don’t really care about anything else.
And lastly - do as Scott suggest, read the sticky in the newbies section.
Best of luck to you.
Tom
