Since this is an "introduce yourself" kind of area, let me do just that!

HI GUYS! I'm Byron Purvis Very Happy

I moved to L.A. almost 5 years ago to pursue acting and voice overs. I took a bunch of voice over classes when I first moved here, but finances caught up to me, and I just couldn't keep it going. I've actually been working the past 2 years as an event/red carpet photographer shooting all the famous folks at premieres and such. Photography is fun and I enjoy being my own boss, but I've been putting off acting/voice over for way too long. Now I feel like I'm finally at a point where I'm ready to just dive right in and go for it!

A little back story for those who might be interested...

I am originally from the South (Alabama & Georgia). I think I got bitten by the entertainment industry bug when I was an itty bitty guy. My aunt had her own local talk show in the early 1980's, and she would have me on her show, usually for the holidays. I was also in a couple of local commercials as a kid. I always knew that I wanted to work as a performer in Hollywood.

I did tons of plays and musicals in high school and college, but then somewhere around the mid-1990's I got off track and got heavily into the internet/computers. I changed my major to Computer Science, and then worked in the tech industry for years! I was miserable as a cubicle troll. The tech stock crash about 6 years ago was a wake up call for me, and I decided to get back to my creative roots.

I worked as an extra on "Remember the Titans" and "Road Trip" that both filmed in Atlanta. I had a few friends I met on set who had already moved out here, and I decided to move to L.A. shortly after.

So here I am! Ready to get my voice on! Very Happy

Well big howdy Welcome Byron! (now how cool is that name!) Very interesting background man. You certainly have the looks for acting. Contemplating your sexy avatar there brought tears as I reflected on the ebbing loss of mine own passing hotness….

There’s a lot of really talented, generous nice folk on this forum—Big Hi from a little guy in Big D
