Smile Hi Everyone!

I thought this might be a fun topic for us . I recently got a gig doing a zombie's voice in a video game. It was quite fun to do as I could sound totally weird and spooky. My relatives and friends get the creeps playing the game and hearing my voice. It is called Last Half of Darkness by WRF Studios and a trial sample game can be down loaded at
www.lasthalfofdarkness.com
My dad woke up out of a dead sleep in shock at one point while my niece was playing the game. I had lots of fun making it.

It would be fun to hear some of the strange or funny gigs other people have done here.

Best wishes,
Sabrina.

Mine was a video game too. I was an evil Russian water spirit. It was a blast! I also did some wake-up calls as a Latvian college student. They were a little racey but a lot of fun to record!!

Smile Hi September!
That sounds so cool! I would love to be able to do a Russian accent like that. Its so fun to be totally out of character isn't it!?

I did this a little while back and unfortunately all I can find is a short sample. I absolutely love doing this voice. I kind of discovered it in the studio after just reading pretty straight for a while and the sound guy thought it was the funniest thing he ever heard. Maybe I will get a chance to dust it off for some Halloween gigs.

Cool voice! Kind of a cross between Truman Capote and Peter Lorre. erschreckt

My most-fun gig was for an on-line game for students called "Johnny Money". The best part was hearing the producers crack up...she was a funny character to play...

my favorite gig so far was doing a baseball play-by-play guy for an upcoming film called "Remarkable power"

Spooky voices are fun! I remember having to play a Vampire in a high school production. Recently I turned in an audio book demo about vampires. I decided to take a chance and read it with a vampire voice. I even went to the trouble of making it sound like it was being read in a dungeon. I like everything to have a beginning, middle, and an end so I added the last line of the full copy to the audition copy. I got a high rating, but no job.

I did however win a Halloween Costume contest. I wasn't a vampire. I was Dorthy from the Wizard of Oz. 1st place was only $50 and the shoes alone were $35, but it was really cool to take that same costume and then win a karaoke contest singing the classic (if not over done) song Over the Rainbow.

I used to live in Lancaster CA and that is where the late great Judy Garland started her career in Theater.

So far my favorite job was doing the free computer learning.com jingle.
The adoption job was my latest conquest and it was a rewarding challenge too. After it's edited I will post it. My favorite commercial promo was the Charley Brown spot....The last spot on this demo.

This none of my business, but just out of curiosity, did this video game pay more or less than the Radio Imaging job????? You did really well on that by the way. I was so upset I never got a chance to tell you that I am happy for you. Your accent is lovely and your voice has a beautiful energy and youth to it. Can you sing too?

I've gotta say that the gig I had the most fun with was one I did a few months ago.
A low-paying student project (that I'm still waiting to be paid for, ho-hum), but a lot of fun!

This only part of it. The whole thing went for quite a bit longer.

I'd love to do more drama-type work, but there aren't too many opportunities at this end of the globe!

Cheers!
Steve

My favorite 'gig' wasn't a v/o job, but it was playing the lead role of George Hay in "Moon Over Buffalo" earlier this year. I've been on stage for the better part of the past 40 years and this was by far the most fun I've EVER had in a role, and I wasn't even going to audition for that show!

And, breaking news!!! Stupid news!!!
I have just been offered (and accepted) the lead role of Captain Shubian in a series of short sequels to what may be one of the campiest movies ever made, rivaling "Plan 9 from Outer Space" and the infamous "Manos, Hands of Fate" (voted by IMDB members as the worst movie ever made). "Shubian's Rift" is the brainchild of a local Delta pilot who has been trying to get this movie made for the past 30 years. (The guy who played Capt. Shubian in the original one has dropped out). You can see clips of the original fullllllllllll-lennnnnnnnnngth film here, plus a short teaser of the upcoming series:

Yes, it's hokey and silly, but most of my theatre buddies are in it and I think it will be just dumb fun. Truth be told, the guy's storyline is pretty fascinating, he just doesn't really have the resources to do this the way it really ought to be done. We start 'filming' next spring.
