I'd be interested to see how many of you responded to this one. Congratulations to the lucky wiener. (I'll post the lead at the end).

This woman contacted me yesterday and asked me where I am based (like she couldn't tell from my bio and the area code). I told her Orlando. Mind, when I answered the lead, I gave my quote and stated that I'm willing to travel. She said they actually wanted the talent to be based in Kansas City. I told her to look again at their audition notice---I would have never responded otherwise!

Nice to be hired and fired on the same day. Brainiacs. Here is the original lead:

"Hello,
Looking for a female voice over talent to do the Voice of God for a live corporate event. Needs to be available to travel to location (Kansas City) the week of January 21, 2008. The event will last 4 days, each day the show will last about 2 hours.

Please audition only if you can be at the location on the time required. Travel expenses are not included.
Thanks in advance for your time and auditions!"

Maybe they meant that they want the talent to BE God... since God is omnipresent, He could be in Orlando AND Kansas City at the same time... no problem. Smile

I think we had a situation here today that was just the opposite of what you're describing. Coincidentally, it originated in Orlando. From the evidence I have seen, what happened was, at around 4:30 on Wednesday afternoon a seeker located in Orlando put out a call for 40 demos. They were looking for someone to play a traffic cop pulling over pro golfer Natalie Gulbis. The lead specified "request to pull talent from the metro Orlando area."
Apparently they didn't get very many responses. So at 10:30 that same night they put the same job out for audition but this time the lead said "Prefer talent from metro Orlando area (not a must).

Oddly, they never closed the first audition before replacing it with the second. Smartcast sent me version two earlier this afternoon and it has now received its full compliment of 40 responses and is "Open but no longer receiving auditions."
Then a few minutes ago, Smartcast dropped the initial "Orlando only" version of the lead into my mailbox. It's still shown as "Open" and thus far has gotten only 27 of the 40 requested demos.

Lee-

I got the impression that the audition from earlier today was for the "police officer" and the one from this evening was for the announcer tag (based on the audition script)... ?!

Could be. They really weren't too specific. But I'm not in Orlando, so I didn't audition (although as I type this, the lead is still open).

Not meaning to rob anyone from Orlando of the chance to audition... but I just went ahead and auditioned anyway because it all seemed unclear. First has been opened... no rating... second one still unopened.

Cira I did not get a call, but I did get an email saying that they liked it...but there was an echo...It actually wasn't an echo it was reverb....(It's hard for me to sound like the voice from God if there is no reverb.) I sent the dry read back to her saying that the price they were paying would more than cover the airline tickets....but since it was for 5 days...I would need a place to stay.

Never heard anything after that.
