Been doing work for a local ad agency who got my name from a friend of a friend...well you know?

I'm getting used to them as they are on the upbeat hard sell type. Something that I didn't think I would do very well at. The audio engineer that I am working with is a guy named Al Schares (al@scharesaudio.com). He has his own production business as well as being the programming director for the Iowa Public Radio at the University of Northern Iowa. He really knows his stuff and does a great job of knowing what something should sound like and directs you in that direction. This is the 4th business locally that has heard my voice and requested that I do the spot for them. Yes the spot came from the agency named "Buy Some Speed".

Yesterday I did an industrail narration for Rockwell Collins International (headquearted in Cedar Rapids, Iowa). I'd share that one with you but I'm afraid a sniper would take me out. Come to think of it I wasn't even there. What was I talking about?

I used a Collins board when I was a DJ at KCOE-FM in Cedar Rapids Iowa - way back when...(when I was a baby).

Did you happen to talk to them about the clean up in CR? I know they are out of town on the way to Marion.

Great news to hear that there is still work being done in Iowa - and that you are getting some of it!

Connie thanks for the reply. Yes Cedar Rapids is going to reel from this one for some time to come. Seeing it on TV and seeing it in person are two different things. Cargill East shut down for at least a year. Quaker Oats will re-open but no time on that. Union Pacific Railroad is getting back to normal but had as of a week ago had 450 trains backed up on both sides of Cedar Rapids. Reisdential areas look as if there has been a war. Waterloo were I reside did not fair as badly thank goodness. They need help badly in C.R. to get people back into living quarters. Many homes will have to be bulldozed and that has people up in arms. The entire downtown area had 4 to 5 feet of water. The place I work for has its headquarters in the refurbished Paramount building. While no water got up to the 2nd or 3rd floor, there is no electrical service for the entire downtown area as of yet.

Just a question for you. Are you from Iowa?

Thanks again and later,

Nope - born in Indiana - nomad most of my life (military dad) - ended up at Coe College, then worked a year at WMT-TV (now KCRG?) before going to grad school at IU in Bloomington. Been out in San Diego now since 1977 - deeeeeeep roots here now.

Still have lots of college buds who live in Cedar Rapids and have been getting updates.

ALLRIGHT, Craig!
As one of your earliest cheerleaders, I'm stupefied by the change in tone and delivery that your coaching and immersion have wrought.

While it still seems to me that a Mac shouldn't be revving in the Daytona 500, I lustily salute your work and success.
You certainly deserve it.

Koepke On!
