Hi all,

I'm new to the biz and there are 2 things that have given me problems and/or questions on Voice123, altho' one of them may be "one of those things" w/voice seekers that are just unanswerable.

The 1st prob is technical, tho': When I upload my generic demos, they sound fine in my Profile. Just the way they should. When I upload them when I send an audition, they are way too LOUD. Confused They fit the voice123 specs and were made in a professional studio. So far, the V123 techs haven't really been much help. They said to bring up the question here.

The 2nd is about voice seekers: Since I'm relatively new to V123, I haven't sent in so many auditions yet and, as you know, not everybody rates you, but on 3 auditions, I received a higher rating than the average, yet they don't hire me. It can't be price because the price was set. I don't have a lot of past professional experience to put down on my resume, so it might look to voice seekers as if I'm "too new" and they don't want to take a chance. anybody have any other ideas?

Thanks.

Not sure I can answer the technical question about the demos seeming louder after upload. But it's possible that you're not hearing what you think you're hearing. Conversion of an mp3 (which is already a compressed format) downward to 96kbps (the required standard here) will sound noisier because approximately half of the digital imformation is removed, making for a less smooth and complete sound, making the digital artifacts more noticable and sounding louder. I'm not explaining it well. I don't speak computer-ese... Laughing

As far as the rating system and not getting booked -- well, just because someone liked your audition doesn't mean you get the job. There may be some one better-suited, who may have been rated higher, or who may not have even been found through this site. This is often only one of several places a seeker will post a job. Competition is stiff here. You really should not rely on these on-line casting hubs too much. Be sure you're marketing locally to businesses, studios and ad agencies and seeking agent representation in as many markets as possible.
