Ok it's not Thursday yet....but none the less along with Friday Night oldies and Saturday Grooves....Sunday Sanctuary.....it is now time for

THEATER THURSDAYS!!!!!!!

here is one from Phantom of the Opera that I performed at Griffin Hospital yesterday.

CHRISTINE
Think of me, think of me fondly,
when we've said goodbye.
Remember me once in a while -
please promise me you'll try.
When you find that, once
again, you long to take your heart back and be free -
if you ever find a moment
spare a thought for me ...

We never said our love was evergreen,
Or as unchanging as the sea -
But if you can still remember,
Stop and think of me ...

Think of all the things
We've shared and seen -
Don't think about the ways things might have been ...

Think of me, think of me waking silent and resigned
Imagine me, trying too hard to put you from my mind

Recall those days, look back on all those times
Thinks of the things, we'll never do
There will never be a day, when I won't think of you

RAOUL
Can it be?
Can it be Christine?

Bravo!

RAOUL
Long ago, it seem so long ago,
How young and innocent we were
She may not remember me, but I remember her

CHRISTINE
Flower fade, the fruit of summer fade
They have the season so do we
But please promise me that sometimes
You will think (ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah) of me!

All right Deby -- I love theatre too.

And a great way to plug my good friend Stuart Zagnit, accomplished stage, screen and voice actor's current show, Breaking Up Is Hard to Do one more time.

Opens the 25th in Ogunquit, Maine.

Oh I Loved being in this Musical......I was in middle school the first time I performed this one. Playing a prostitute as a virgin. lol. At 18 I sang As Long as He Needs Me for my audition for my job delivering singing telegrams. The performing was great.....the driving sucked.

well, ya see, i was in one play back in High School, a conventioneer in By The Skin Of Our Teeth (t. wilder)

i almost got to play Elwood P. Dowd in Harvey, tho .. but, the unwritten rule was only Seniors got lead roles.. i've been in perma-hissy ever since Wink

anyway.... since you asked, Deby, my fave stage musical is Fiddler on the Roof ... the movie is fine but, nothing beats a good stage production of it...

It's been a while but, I believe my characdter's name in Fiddler was Hodel.......The script got left in CA so I'm not sure.

Here is one from that same era

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9wkeNa_QYKw&feature=related

Well this might be more to your taste. This song was not difficult to sing at all. Downright EASY but, the role was just so much fun. She's such an innocent flirt. The slick peddler man or her cowboy...... decisions decisions! Shocked

Of course when I did it I did it as a blond. I mean she really is such an airhead.

I guess I'll jump in again, Deby. I spent a couple of years with a repertory company doing Gilbert and Sullivan and other light opera, wearing hoop skirts and doing my hair in ringlets.

I have to say those years improved both my enunciation and my vocabulary immensely!

These patter songs which appear in every show were the biggest kick, though -- we'd sing or just say them as fast as we could to try and outdo each other.

What fun, eh wat?

Here's a clip from the well known performance done by the celebs in the park in NYC many long years ago. Pirates of Penzance.
