i am counting the days until i can have my apartment to myself so i can make my "practice demo".
i am practicing some of the character voices and i am trying to not be too loud cuz i have 4 room mates.
my question is, do you have a problem with performing the character voice at your best when you are restricted to how loud you can be?
wierd question i know but i wanna see if anyone has had the same problem?

P.S. i am also getting over a recent cold so that may be a problem too, kinda have a stuffiness to my voice. Embarassed

Randall,

I find when I'm practicing a voice it is good to do it at a higher volume.

I did this when perfecting Hank Hill, Homer Simpson, Gollum/Smeagol, Peter Griffin, Stewie Griffin, and a couple others.

Once I had them down, it really doesn't matter about the volume.

One suggestion is don't do things at a whisper for a long time. That is not good for your voice, regardless of if you're trying to do characters or just talking.

Hope this helps,
Brad

You'd be surprised at how good the acoustic properties of your car actually are...

And one thing. Your ability to create more space in the mouth and the back of your throat is (I believe) the most important thing when it comes to shaping character voices.
