Set up a studio for my friend, Scott Kahler and wanted opinions on how the mic sounds.

Shure KSM27 --> Symetrix 528e --> M-Audio Projectmix I/O.

I don't believe there is any software processing on this cut, just the 528e.

Sounds good...except for some harsh sibilence here and there. May just be my ears... Wink

Room is a little "live" no sound absorption yet. Considering that.

Guess I should clarify... I chose the equipment and "set it up" but I didn't build a studio. It's just a bedroom.

Sound is pretty good - but very sibilant. The Symetrix needs to be tweaked. Try to pinpoint the frequency where his "s" occurs and de-ess that sucker.

Room is a little live, for sure....noise floor hovering at around -72 db.

As for baffles, you can make them for about $12.00 each - 2 X 4.

Just use some acoustic ceiling tiles (used for drop ceilings) and some 1" X 5/8" strapping. I recommend using a mitre on the corners if you can.

Here's a couple of pics.

These things work incredibly well.....and are super cheap and easy to make yourself.
