I'm currently using a Focusrite trakmaster, and I'm happy with the sound I get from the pre-amp & compressor. Unfortunately I'm still having issues with ambient noise, so I'm considering getting a dbx 286 to use as an expander/gate, and a backup-road unit.

Is anyone else "linking" processers in their chain?

Bobby,

Before I upgraded my chain I use to do that with a DBX 286A. Works fine but keep in mind the more you have in your chain the more it affects your sound. The 286A isn't a "clean" sounding unit so it will impart the 286A tone onto your setup. Not saying that's a bad thing, just letting you know.

Russ

Haven't received it yet but just ordered a Lexicon MX-200 effects unit. I plan on inserting it between the EQ and output stage of my Symetrix and using the digital out for my "wet" tracks. When I get it and have a chance to play with it, I'll post some "effected" audio.

The thing I like about the MX-200 is that it has a USB port that allows you to use it as a "hardware plugin."
