Hi,

I animate also and I would like to improve the look of voice demos on my website. At the moment, I'm looking for "affordable" sound effects and music to go with my voice overs.

I know of the Hollywood Edge (http://www.hollywoodedge.com/); however, some of those are extremely pricey and the CDs are too packed with things that I won't be needing for a while.

Are there lighter versions out there?

Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks heaps!

Jessie:

There is (or was) a four-volume set from the Hollywood Edge that is priced reasonably. But, if you do an online search, you'll fing plenty of places that offer downloads. I've used Sounddogs.com many times, and I often get production music from the Music Bakery. Just some ideas. Good luck.

Jessie, these are the sites I particularly like:

SFX: AudioSparx - they sell by the clip so you can simply download the sound file you need and you can audition them first.

Music: Lazertrax.com - I got a 14 cd collection on eBay sold directly by the Georgia studio that created the clips and they gave me a buyout agreement. Or,
The Music Bakery, or Flying Hands Royalty Free Music. These last two have fully orchestrated music which they sell by the clip.

You can find tons on eBay, but do a little research to make sure the person selling the music or FX has the license to do so. I don't hesitate to buy eBay CDs or downloads from the studios that produce them. They just use eBay to market and sell their products. Just make sure they give you something in writing on licensing.

Here is another forum post in which I also talked about using music loops: Audition Loopology, etc.

Jessie, go to Digital Juice - http://www.digitaljuice.com/default.asp. I'm not sure what you're looking for exactly but check out the BackTraxx 1, they just came out with this special a day or two ago, regularly $399 now $99 for a very limited time, 28 cd's (1000 tracks) in this library plus first 250 customers get a free StackTraxx Vol.

As far as BackTraxx 1 and StackTraxx you can listen to demo's of what you'll be getting, just go up into products and find Backtraxx Music Library. Even if you don,t get anything from them you can still sign up with them and they'll email you about their upcoming deals, also right after you sign up you can go to their download page and download some free stuff, audio tracks, .mov, .psd, etc..... Oh yeah, and yes, Royalty Free.....

Website stuff ? Have you ever been to sitepal http://www.oddcast.com/sitepal/ , check it out, you can upload your voice and watch the cartoon say whatever, it's fun to play with, and yes, you can type anything....... Enjoy!

Digital Juice works pretty good! The only flaw is having to insert the CD's when wanting to install the selected sounds for your project...

I found a way round installing the sound files without the CD's

This video will show Mac users how.

If you want to use the program I used to record your screen with sound in real time click here. http://www.ambrosiasw.com/utilities/snapzprox/

Louis, don't know if you already seen this but if you'd like even more information as far as storing Digital Juice cd's on your hard drive check this out http://www.digitaljuice.com/community_forums/tm.asp?m=6891.

Have you ever watched any video uploads over there, this one was a contest winner, just a homemade family video but I like it. Just to let you in on it, the "Revealer" is one of the products DJ offers.

That's sooo cool! Thanks James...Thought I was the only one having the problem digital juice.

Kevin on the juice link you sent mentions "if you wanted to have it all on your harddrive you are talking about using 3 to 4 TB...Now where is one gonna find 4 TB of extra space?.

That's about right for the 11,000.00 sound effects. The preview mp3 files in the juicer takes up 1.5 gigs of space... Glad I found a way not to use the CD's what was your solution? It seems there is more than one

Will watch the video and let you know what I think....

Thanks

Louis
