GREAT advice everyone!

In the whole "competive realm" of things, I'm no threat. I've got a few things keeping me from the REALLY BIG JOBS:
1) experience
2) acolades
3) DESIRE

I have NO intention on clawing my way to the top of anything... I'm lookin for a little extra fun money without having to work at some retail outlet for $7.00 an hour 5 days a week! Work from home, have some fun and get a little cash.

Maggie, you couldn't be more right... if it's meant to be, it will be! I believe there is a MUCH bigger plan for me and I'm confident of the path I'm on-- VO is really a little side thing. BUT MAKE NO MISTAKE... just for the record. I take ALL endeavors very seriously and subscribe to excellence. This is NOT just a half hearted "thing" I thought I'd dabble in. I want to grow and mature in the VO biz and learn as much as I can-- this will be the key to being the best I can be.

GREAT FEEDBACK... I appreciate it very much!
Therese

PS- I just "jumped in the water"-- and posted a simple dry read to the voice over Idol... YIKES!

Also... (and I wish everybody including newbies would do this) you should delete ALL leads that pay diddley-squat even IF you are a newbie - because although I know you really want to get a few gigs to add to your resume, the truth is if you answer low-paying gigs, you are sending out the message that you don't respect yourself enough so why should they? You will only be hurting yourself in the long run because you will be one of the many responsible for driving the standard down for everybody INCLUDING YOURSELF.

Maggie,

I'm am so new the price tag is stll stuck on:). but I did want to ask you, speaking of price tags, how to figure pay rates for VO jobs. I literally have no frame of reference for it. Does it go by the minute? Or is it based on something else?

Thanks.

Ken,

I was asking the same questions earlier this year--here is a recent thread with some pricing info....check out Freddie's post--he has the link there. (I don't know how to shorten up the link code when copying so I just did the thread link).

Note: the first line says its an average of rates for talents with 2 or more years experience in voice-over work...
