I am convinced that Bob Bergen couldn't address an envelope without it being worth reading.
Thanks Bob for the always excellent advice and thoughts. And for taking the time. _________________ Mike "The Loose" Cannon

[quote="Bob Bergen Daily I hear, "I've done everything I'm supposed to be doing, and I still don't get results!' I'll ask them to define "everything." "Oh, I took one VO class, I made a demo, I'm signed up for voices123, etc. But I'm not getting gigs and I'm having a hard time getting an agent." [/quote]
Considering any voice site to be a career step is a bit like training to be a NASA astronaut by buying a day pass to the amusement park.
Neither agents, production houses, not serious clients are trawling here.

I happen to know that the CHUM stations in Ottawa (for the un-educated, that's the capital of Canada ) use this site to find voices for some commercials.
Don't know how "major" that's considered, but there ya go.

I definitely agree that the majority of the seekers are small companies or individuals but I reckon there are a few big guys here too occasionally. Maybe they come looking here after they've exhausted their own roster's potential or looking for a fresh sound. It's hard to tell with them being anonymous and all... |
I have to concur. There are some clients on here that make me wonder... "why did THEY come here?" Must be looking for something fresh, something new.
Even the chicken spot was for a quality agency doing national or regional radio. Professional, easy to work with, pays well. It was however TOS.
Then there's this other huge client that came here.... (heard this morning that no decision has yet been made, I still have a chance.) _________________ www.ColinCampbellVoice.com

As I was saying, voice sites are a fun and lovely way to spend some time:
wild rides.... thrills....chills; the odd excitement.
But nobody, nohow, nowhere makes a living from them. And anybody considering the audition process as their professional initiative is voiceoverly doomed.
I know that Amy, Maggie and Colin - talents all - are busily marketing in many other ways.
I surmise that Elisabeth is, too.
And certainly, CHUM and others drop in from time to time.
But then again, the fact that many NASA astronauts probably have been to Six Flags is not what got them to where they are.

Do you guys actually keep track. I haven't. I can tell you...
TOS.... 2 public, 0 private
V123.... heck, I don't know but certainly no private unless you count an email that circumvented the process. Maybe 6-10 public.
All in a year and a half.
I think I have keyword issues on my sites. _________________ www.ColinCampbellVoice.com
