Amanda and all others listening. YOU CANNOT POP YOUR "P's" "B's" and "T's."

NOTHING SCREAMS AMATEUR LIKE POPPING PLOSIVES.

That's why that demo didn't go out. I have a popping P problem.

Try saying that five times, fast!

Hello...get a pop filter for 30 bucks

http://www.bswusa.com

and practice these lines

"A proper cup of coffee in a copper coffee pot.

"A big black bug bit a big black bear and the big black bear bled blood."

Here's one that will make you sick and dizzy

"The sixth sick sheik's sixth sheep's sick."

(above courtesy of Alburger)

Enjoy!

There was a time when on a Friday or Saturday night, this thread "Demo of the Day" or DoD for short would have been buzzing with activity. We have had virtual parties in the past. Tonight it rests silent, I fear never to return.

I wanted to say before it's too late how much I've enjoyed the laughter and tears, the friendship and camraderie I've enjoyed over these past many months in Demo of the Day.

I've put together a new "docu-drama" demo.

A voice in the wilderness....

Colin

Amanda...hiya! ok, you know you've got the plosive thing going on but there's a lot more you can work on. First, slow down. You're going crazy fast and I had to listen a few times before I understood half of the script. Take your time and say every word. Watch your inflection. "now live it" should be ominous and inflected down. You also have an accent (Chicago?) and it helps to listen to people's demos with really neutral accents and become a parrot. Just repeating back what they say over and over. You also seem to talk at the top of your mouth, the top of your throat. Don't be afraid to make your chest rumble a bit. It will help give you depth, something you really need on a scary read. I'd love to hear you do that read again in a few weeks! Very Happy

Hail...nice! one thing that stood out to me was that any time a word starts with an "a", it comes out pretty hard. I do it too. It helps me to approach it with a more "ah" sound than "ay". the "up" is "upbringing was a little hard too. You ran out of breath and still tried to squeak out "acoustics". You trooper! Wink LOVED the thunder and lighting coming in right at "suicide records"!! Could that have been more perfectly timed?? You got more "rock and roll" as you went on and that was good. "Disney would have to wait" Laughing Great!

Colin....you da man! I finally figured out what some of your docudrama reminds me of!! Ever see "Quiz Show"? The part where Christopher MacDonald (Jack Barry) is practicing his intonation and is saying "Like walking on the bottom of...the sea. Long, long ago."? That's it! That's your dramatic!! Smile

September.... I love that movie... "Quiz Sbow." I even have the DVD. I don't remember the specific part you mention though. I haven't seen it in a while. (I'm getting old.) So I'm going to drag it out and see what you're talking about.

Jason.... VERY unique. Wow. It's gets attention that's for sure.

Not being a character guru I'm not really qualified to judge. May want to talk to Joe J. Thomas, Rajiv, or Brad Venable... the character mavins on the board.

Hey, Colin...what a rare DoD moment! We get to auditon and hear the same spot.

Good, solid, networkly narrative job, Perfesser. I still prefer dry, though.

Voice On!
