I think this is the clients way of saying, whatever processing(compression, pitch -/+control, echo, reverb, etc.) you use and the other dry (no processing).

At least that's my guess!

Might be something Smartcast could focus on for clients. To have some sort of glossary to go to.

Generally when the uninitiated refer to "filtering" they mean an EQ with sharp mid-range and no lows or highs. Sort of a telephone sound. You'll hear that in music/concert spots a lot. Some of the lines are "filtered" for emphasis.

Of course I could be totally wrong in this case but that's how I took it.

Colin is exactly right. You get the "filtered" sound with EQ.

Some people use the term "filter" and "equalizer" interchangably. In fact Adobe Audition refers to it's bag of different EQ'a as "filters."

Thanks gang. I sort of wondered if an "EQ" could be it.

I was assuming some TYPE of filter would be otherwise suggested. What kind, I have no idea, but something nonetheless.

Thanks again.

So true. It's become a cliche, but does have it's uses. You may already know this but I'll throw it out there anyway. The guy who first popularized that technique was Ken Nordine . . . many, many years ago.

Here's his web site - makes for good listening. And, if you're ever asked to do a Ken Nordine read, you'll know what it is.
